6/3/07 Marlins (Willis) @ Brewers (Sheets): 1:05 PM CDT

Very happy to see JJ hit one out to right, after having started to get some base hits that way. Pitchers finally realized they can't pound fastballs in on his hands, so they adjusted and went away with slow stuff. One or two more into the RF seats will bring them right back into his wheelhouse.

Felt very satisfying to see the Crew get the series win today, especially against a team they have historically played poorly against (at least in recent years, IIRC).

My only small gripe is that I hope the team gets better at manufacturing runs, sooner than later. Can't rely on the long ball so much.

The pitching really was solid today. It's nice to see Sheets pitching so well lately.

What a great day and game to go to with the Mrs. Sheets pitches dominate we win 3-0, Cordero with his 21st save and a Fielder bobblehead. It was a great day.

Let's preface this by saying I am an IDIOT.

But, I read your post at least 5 times trying to figure out if you went to the game with Ben Sheets wife (I even tried to look up if he had one) or Ben Sheets mom.

Then I finally realized you went to the game with YOUR Mrs. And Sheets dominated.

Wow.

And yet another reason to make sure you are not reading and posting on IGT's after consuming alcoholic beverages all day.

Hey,

That was fun today. Big crowd, big promotion, big pitching matchup...and it didn't disappoint. In the last week, the Brewers have gone from 3-3 to 6-3 in hawing-attended games.

And parkside21, good to meet you. (Were you relieved when I said 'yes, I am hawing'? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif )

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

That's for sure, when I realized early last week that not only was it going to be Prince bobblehead day but also most likely Sheets vs. Dontrelle it really made my week go slow waiting for it.

A little muggy inside and I had terrible seats cause I waited too long to get tix for today, but great game all around, minus the Graffanino DP with the bases loaded to end the inning, I was hoping that could help get him going with a big hit there.

Haha, I was. I saw you walk by me, and I thought "hmmm....that woman looks familiar......" Then I realized where I knew you from, a picture from one of the Fan Fest outings, or some bf.net event....so when I realized, I thought I might as well go introduce myself. Though, I wasn't sure because you weren't wearing any Sharpie apparel. Anyways, always fun to put a face to the names on here. Glad we got to see a great game and a Brewers win.

mikerollins,

Don't feel bad at all, because I did the exact same thing. I re-read it at least three times before I realized that I'm a moron.

Excellent Win!

Clean sheet for ace Sheets, like the way he pitched out of trouble. Very happy to see Turnbow aggressively attacking the strikezone instead of giving easy walks. CV = cool and reliable, and killer CoCo gets his 21st straight save with ease.

Finally, glad to to see the pitching staff snap their shutout slump and JJ snap his homer slump.

Nice time at the game today. I agree it was kind of stuffy when they closed the panels for 2-3 innings when it got dark and ominous.

JJ's HR left the park really quickly. I didn't think he had enough of it, but man was that a rocket.

I had a poor view of Hall's catch into the wall (actually no view), but the crowd certainly appreciated the effort.

Was I the only one in the crowd quietly hoping for the Brewers to not add to their three-run lead in the bottom of the 8th just so I could see the Coco experience in person once this year?

Peavey, no. I have him on my fantasy team as you know. I wanted a blowout and it could have been. I myself thought it was muggy and uncomfortable. It was great to see CoCo pitch though. Turnbow was about as nasty as you get besides the double.

Just got back from a loooong day! What a great game, and a great atmosphere in the Keg this afternoon. It was great to see the Crew rebound and finally get the monkey off their backs and win a series. I will have the new complete IGT up tomorrow afternoon since I do not have time tonight

A few observations / questions from the game (I was there, so I didn't have the chance to hear the broadcasters).

1) An RBI single in the first inning....I can't help but think that is one of the better outings by a player at their bobblehead day. (Then again, I've only really started watching for this sort of thing after Turnbow's abysmal bobblehead performance last year.)

2) What was the official ruling on the J.J. Hardy CS? Was he ruled out of the base line, or was it something else? It's hard for me to get too up-in-arms over a literal slip-up on the base paths, provided it doesn't turn in to a pattern. (The other times I can think of when J.J. has been thrown out on-base is when he's put himself into a rundown to allow a run to score.)

3) I keep worrying about J.J. trying to hit home runs, especially when his BA starts to dip under .300 (like it did this weekend). Then I look at the results of his AB's, still see more groundouts than fly balls, and see that those fears are misguided.
