Maybe Yost should just stick with the formula that has worked so well - Turnbow gets the 8th, Cordero the 9th. What's so difficult about that?

Why is getting an extra inning out of a pretty solid Villanueva to keep the rest of the pen fresh is a bad idea for some reason?

we are asking to much of codero here

What in God's name do you suggest we do??

Spurling, Capellan, or Shouse against Soriano? Or leave in Turnbow?

Cordero is 21 for 21 in save opportunities and has given up 1 run all year. He'll probably work around Soriano and go after the next guy.

There's not another guy in the entire league (starter or reliever) I'd want on the hill now.

This inning is on Ned and Ned only. Either you have T-Bow start the inning even though it's not a save situation, or give Carlos more leash than one batter. You could just see the rhythm come out of T-Bow when it became apparent he wasn't starting the 8th.

Coco with the bailout.

Too much of Coco? to get 4 outs instead of 3? Geez...

edit. Peavy isn't being an elitist by any means, perhaps people should think their opinions through before throwing random thoughts down on a message board? Coco was the perfect call for that situation.

I wanted to stay with Carlos. He had some room to play with. He generally doesn't walk guys in bunches. I thought he could get through the bottom of the order. If we survive tonight than our bullpen is a mess for tomorrow.

You're right, Peavey. You're always smarter than everyone else here. My apologies for not bowing to your superior baseball knowledge.

Is he not allowed to ask that question? Do you consider it a bad idea?

Unfortunately, that's the usual response to valid questions being asked that question one's viewpoint when they don't have a valid reason for it.

why does it looks so easy for Cordero and so terribly hard for Turnbow?

oh, that's right, he's a lot better than Turnbow.

I don't see why Villanueva couldn't have pitched the eighth inning, even after the leadoff walk. I'd much rather have him work out of a jam than Turnbow. When will Yost realize that Villanueva is a better pitcher than Turnbow, even if he doesn't throw as hard?

Yost can't handle a bullpen.

I think he managed it brilliantly tonight. Try to get through the 8th with Villy who has pitched well all year and save Turnbow and CoCo for tomorrow.

CV walked the first guy. He went to his 8th inning guy who had a 4 run lead and a guy on first.

He let him pitch until the go-ahead run came to the plate..then he went to the best closer in the league.

What did you suggest he do differently?

If he starts TBow in the 8th, then we get the "anyone can protect a 4 run lead---this is a time to pitch Spurling" argument that we have gotten so many times this year.

If we could go back in time, I wouldn't change one move Ned made with the bullpen tonight.

Now last night..I would have stayed with Bush instead of bringing in Shouse, but that's a different story.

FWIW, I didn't think Turnbow looked that bad tonight.

Turnbow allowed an inherited runner to score, he got two outs and allowed 2 hits and a walk. That's a pretty bad outing for your main setup guy.
