My IP address says I am from Canada

zurch1818

I go to google and it redirects me to google canada. For my fantasy team on Yahoo it says welcome to Yahoo Sports Canada. I have also gone to an IP address locator on a google canada search -- it says I am in Toronto and I am definitely in Madison. It even shows the Canadian flag. I have connected to other wireless networks at my apartment complex and the same thing happens, so I figure it is something with my ISP (restech). I am not doing anything out of the ordinary. Here is the screenshot from the IP address locater. I did not enter anything into this site, this is the page that popped up.

I personally think it is kind of cool. Does anyone have any explanation for this?

I can relate. Everytime I access my internet from work, my IP address says I'm in Alberta, even though I work in the states. I work in remote areas though, with company provided satellite dishes, so your case is a little bit different.

But, I can relate in how much it sucks going to google.com and automatically being rerouted to google.ca. A lot of websites become Canadian. Brewerfan.ca is really weird http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

EDIT: 1000 posts, yeah!

It's probably bad GEO information from APNIC or ARIN. That's a growing problem with the IPV4 IP space where Geo location is often wrong.

You may want to email your ISP and see if they are aware of the problem.

You can watch brewer games on MLB.tv

Too Bad I don't have that IP address class......I could be watching the Brewers during class.

I called them up yesterday and they said that it will eventually get taken care of.

That's the bizzaro George talking. What you should do is take advantage of this in any way possible. Like as mentioned, get MLB.tv and watch Brewers games. I'd love it if my IP said I was from Canada.
