Player Vehicles & Sightings Around Town

I've had a couple Brewer/Bucks sightings in LA. A few years ago Jeremy Burnitz and an old buddy were at a Starbucks out here. Turns out they were staying at the hotel across the street. He was surprised to get noticed outside of Milwaukee. We talked to him for a couple minutes...he seemed very cool. It was still cold in Milwaukee so he was glad to be in LA at that time.

I had a meeting at a hotel in Bev Hills a couple years ago and the Bucks were watching film in the room next door. I tried talking to some heavy, pasty looking clubbie type wearing a Bucks shirt...he blew me off. Kinda funny, I was wearing a suit and not exactly looking for autographs, just curious.

Thought I'd revisit this one.

I saw Gabe Kapler with his family out at Stonefire Pizza in New Berlin last night. He was there with his wife and kids (I think 3 but it was hard to tell exactly which ones were his). I'm not sure if nobody really noticed him or if they were choosing to leave him be (there weren't a ton of people there).

I pointed him out to the people I was with, as most of them are huge Brewer fans (though unlikely to have recognized him if I hadn't said anything). They all kind of stared at him from a distance buy nobody approached him. He was there with his wife and kids so it just didn't seem appropriate to say anything or ask him for an autograph.

However, I was walking from the dining area to the game area and him, his wife and kids were walking about 3 behind me (they were leaving). I figured it was an ok time to say something, so I turned to him and said,

"Sorry to bother you while you are out with your family, Gabe, but I just wanted to tell you that I think you're doing a great job this season. Good luck the rest of the way".

He kind of smiled and said, "Hey, thanks a lot buddy. I appreciate it".

And that was that. It was pretty cool.

Back during Ray King's first tour with the Crew, I used to see him down on Water frequently (usually at McGillicuddy's) and also several times at the casino. Always solo

I've heard from friends that you can add Encore to that list.

Add in a stop at Kopp's and presumably a game at MP and you've the makings of a nice visit to Milwaukee

Super classy, brwrsfan. I guarantee you those are the types of fan moments players really cherish.

Thanks. I really didn't even want to say anything, as he had been in our vacinity for about 35 minutes, but he was right next to me and it just kinda presented itself. He didn't seem unhappy in any way, so I'm pretty sure I didn't annoy him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

That's my philosophy too. I might give them a nod, but otherwise I'll just leave them be, especially if they're with their families...

I saw Ben Sheets and his wife at Saz's during his rookie year. I believe Saz's used to give gift certificates to the Brewer player of the game in those days - I think benny was cashing in. A couple years later I saw him at Marty's pizza in Brookfield. Also saw Jenkins at the Starbucks on Bluemound that someone mentioned earlier. There's a condo complex on Calhoun just north of Bluemound that a bunch of guys live in - my buddy's fiance used to live in there with her first husband.

Also, a bunch of out of town athletes hang at Flannery's on Wells. I saw the entire Twins coaching staff in there once - saw Tony Kukoc in there the same night.

When I lived downtown, I used to see Jenkins out all the time. Mostly at Kenadee's and Taylor's. Bill Hall hangs out at The Velvet Room quite a bit.

But the best Brewer sighting I ever had was seeing Sexson, Kieschnick, Leskanic, and Jamey Wright at McGillicuddy's on Water. I bumped into Leskanic in the bathroom and told him I hoped his arm was doing ok. He said "Thanks, man". Then I wished them good luck on the season (I believe this was '03) as I left and they seemed appreciative. My female friend stayed and ended up getting propositioned by Kieschnick (did the whole wanna come up to my room schtick) and Sexson needed to flag a cab to take him to Brookfield. She also tried talking to leskanic earlier in the evening and he told her he worked for AT&T. Fun night.

I'm not sure if this is already posted, but I have heard that Mo's Steakhouse is the "place" for Bucks and Brewers sightings, and that a lot of them live in the condos around there. I don't have any interesting stories, but as a kid I saw Reggie White outside of Lambeau Field while I had a cast on my leg, and he pulled me aside and signed a polaroid my dad took of us together.

That's funny that you mention Mo's. I was at Saturday's game (Sheets gem vs. Peavy) and we were staying downtown and settled on Mo's after the game. We got there and looked across the bar and who was sitting on the other side? Mister Ben Sheets out celebrating his victory. It was very cool, kind of surreal. A couple friends congratulated him, but I just observed from afar. He spent most of the night playing those bar computer games (the one where you pick out 5 differences in 2 different photos). About an hour or two after we got there, Mike Adams showed up and hung out with Ben. That was cool because we were talking to Mike the whole game in the bullpen.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

Braun was also at Mo's this past Saturday. Braun posed for a photo with my mom gave her a hug and wished her a happy anniversary (she was there with my dad celebrating). Very, very classy move by Braun. My mom asked one of the staff if it would be ok, they talked to Braun to make sure it was alright, and he agreed to it. She's a big Braun fan so it was a real thrill for her.

I personally didn't see this, but a friend sent me a text a few days back that CC and 'management' were seen in a fine Milwaukee restaurant and spent a considerable amount of time there. I don't know if it was contract talks or what so maybe this should be taken with a grain of salt.

I was an 8th grader at St. Adalbert's in South Milwaukee when Jesse Orosco's young son (2nd grade at the time) attended. He would pick his son up after school and a crowd of kids would wait for autographs. He drove a nice Benz and the funny thing is for the 1/2 year his kid attended the school, he was the only one to not abide by the school dress code (blue pants white polo).

I was a Bucks ball boy in high school (so I have numerous encounters with NBA players) and worked in the infamous Root Beer Barrels you all see at the lakefront festivals. The players knew me well and one day I was sitting in my cramped barrel a guy snuck up, grabbed the brim of my hat, squeezed it tightly so I couldn't see and said in a stern voice "give me all yo money!" I was startled and looked up to Ray Allen. He was wearing a big farmers hat and was with a nice looking woman. I gave them each a free soda. Before he left he looked at me and said "watch your back."

Speaking of downtown establishments, in Eve I saw Ruben Patterson, Gilbert Brown, and stood next to Charlie Villanueva when admiring women were trying to dance with him. He seemed happy to oblige with whatever came his way.

This wasn't me personally, but I heard that someone saw C.C. Sabathia shopping at Toys R Us in Brookfield about a month ago. These people then ran over to the Brewers' Clubhouse store at Brookfield Square to get a couple 8x10's and they got back in time to have him sign them. Apparently C.C.'s wife was pretty amused.

Also, I heard from a friend that Carlos Villanueva goes to Brookfield Square a lot.

I've mentioned these before, but as long as we're anthologizing.

A few years back I saw bunch of big dudes in the upstairs of Hooligan's on North Ave after an afternoon game. I recognized Russel Branyan, Wes Helms and a relief pitcher who didn't last long.

Last year after a miserable loss to the Cubs, I stopped at Potowatami to learn how to play black jack. When I left several hours later, I saw Cappy standing outside of an SUV, dressed up mighty snazzy and Matt Wise either passed out or with his head down in the SUV--I believe he gave up 4 runs that day or the day before.

And right before this season started I was at Monica's on Astor when the bar tender asked me if I wanted to celebrate with Dan Kolb. He was buying the house a shot after getting invited to Red Sox camp. I looked around the pillar and there he was. I returned the favor before leaving, without actually talking to the guy, left a generic message of kill the yanks, er something.

Not sure who's inside...possibly yesterday's starting lineup for the last 18 consceutive innings. I know who was driving though (he's still behind the wheel):

We saw Kapler at Karma yesterday while we were watching the football games. He was just there by himself eating a quick meal and catching some of the games. Everyone pretty much left him alone for most of the time. After he was done with his meal we approched him and just had some small talk. He said his shoulder was alright (pretty much what I expected him to say.) He wants to rejoin the team on the road trip. I was suprised he wasn't on the trip now.

We also mentioned that we are not part of the group of fans that are getting a little press for the boooings. Then he went on a mini rant where he said, "the booing really doesn't help anyone, especially the other day when gagne got booed before he even threw his first pitch." We also said that that tonight's game (game 2 of the double header) was a pretty big one, he said, "you have no idea."

All in all, he was pretty classy and genorous to talk with us for a couple minutes. He signed a brewer schedule that I had, and signed my friend's lifesize cardboard cutout of the Bratwurst racing sausage. He seemed to like that one.

I don't know how many people were at last night's Cowboys-Packers game, but these Brewers were on the Packers sideline for the duration of the game:

-CC Sabathia

-Prince Fielder

-Tony Gwynn

-Mike Rivera

-Gabe Kapler

-Rickie Weeks

-Bill Hall

I don't know if they were mentioned on the NBC telecast, because I saw a few of them talking with Andrea Kremer of NBC, but it was nice to see them. I wonder if they chartered a flight from Cincinnati to Green Bay.
