Jenkins' Debut in Philly

steve267268

In the seventh inning of the Phillies home opener yesterday, Geoff Jenkins was called upon to pinch hit. A guy named Ruiz had just laced an RBI double to cut the National lead to two. I believe there were either none or one outs. The stadium was already rocking after the double, so the PA announcer let the crowd settle a bit and proceeded to give Geoffry his intro. The crowd did get noticeably louder in cheering their new slugging backup outfielder. The Nationals then brought in Ray King (Geoff is surprisingly four for seven lifetime against the lefty). Despite their history, Geoff struck out with the finisher coming on an off-speed pitch that was low and away...

The more things change...

I liked Jenks a lot. Especially that cannon arm, his hard play and hustle. Yet, we are a better team today than with him in there.

It is almost like he was in charge of keeping the lights on while Prince and all grew up.

Thus the changing, and transitory cycle of the athlete.

I would have guessed low and inside off speed.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.
