Fukudome to bat leadoff against LHP

logan82
I finally got around to watching the last spring training game against the Cubs today. It was on WGN so it had the Cubs announcers. They were talking and mentioned that Fukudome would be hitting leadoff against LHP, Fukudome being a left himself, instead of his usual 5th spot. The reasoning behind this being that he wouldn't provide Ramirez protection in the 5 hole against lefties.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

It's an interesting concept, especially when you consider that what a lot of LHB see suffer against LHP is their SLG. This might be a great use of Fukudome's skillset, unfortunately.

Well if it turns out to be a good move it might make up for batting Soriano at the top or close to it. My question would have to be why isn't he batting towards the top of the order anyway?
