Ned Yost = 3rd Best MLB Manager

One thing that throws up red flags is any time a manager's record is compared to pythagorean record. I don't think that any manager has shown that he can outperform a team's pythagorean record on a consistent basis.

I blame Wang.

I mean on a year to year basis. If I am not mistaken most managers show little correlation between actual record and pythagorean record year to year.

A lot of the problem I see is that almost everything used to judge managers is so subjective.

Like endaround also pointed out with the Torre example, a good bullpen will have more impact on outperforming a pythagorean record than a manager will.

I wish we could find the full report and all the compiled statistics this guy used.
