Two fisted slopper/slobber video

gypcasino

This is the version that's burned into my memory from going to Brewers games as a kid. If anyone remembers it differently, please speak up. That was a long time ago!

Bob Betts narrating:

This is one of those pain-in-the neck messages the Brewers are truly sorry to have to bring you. We hope there isn't a single fan that has to deal with the obnoxious guy we call… The Two Fisted Slobber![/i]

You know the one that makes up-teen trips to the back stand? Always interrupting a row - or even a section - getting to and from his seat and gets rowdier ever return trip?[/i]

To stop the Two Fisted Slobber, the Brewers have asked fans to drink responsibly. We've told venders not to serve those to whom that next glass could be that one too many and we've increased stadium security.[/i]

If the Slobber is still slopping around and effecting your game enjoyment, see an usher, a county sheriff or go the fan assistance center located on the main concourse at section 18.[/i]

Remember… it our way or no way for the Two Fisted Slobber![/i]

If it wasn't for the two-fisted slopper I would have never thought of buying two beers at a time. What a great idea, less trips to the concession line!! (i believe it was slobber originally, but was corrected for grammer reasons later on).

Thing is, the video being played in 2008 might very well have nothing to do with whether or not it was "slobber" when I saw the video in, say, 1989 at County, there are too many potential explanations and variables in the stories. Sans time machine, we may never know. (I'll spring for the DeLorean if anyone has 1.21 gigowatts to spare.)

Just for the sake of discussion, did anyone notice that the article about Miller Park in the Cue section of the Journal Sentinel today called the video the two fisted SLOPPER. ??? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Last season I posted the the video clearly saying "slopper". I did a Lexis/Nexus search of every printed reference to the video and everything said "slopper". Yet the debate didn't die. Thats when I realized some people will never admit when they are wrong.

I was seriously hoping to see the video during the game today. I honestly was looking for it during every cut-scene. I am 99.9 percent certain it was slopper, as the video has been burned into my childhood memories from American League Boy Scout romps at County Stadium. Being thirty two and having Atari 2600 to cut my teeth on, the pixilated yellow video of the SLOPPER is one of the memories from my childhood I do not dismiss.

It's always been Slopper. From Jim Stingl's column:

Van Wagoner recalled that the Brewers contracted with Karen Johnson Productions in Racine to design Bernie Brewer. The company also did the original racing sausages and the scoreboard favorite "two-fisted slopper."
Someone should contact Karen Johnson Productions to get confirmation.

b19: Is 'slob' even a verb?

hawing: I submit that it is not.

While I agree with hawing, it's still fun to pretend "slob" is a verb and use it that way.

Anyway, I saw the video last night and I felt it was loud and clear that it said "slopper."

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

? What ? Did they play it at the game last night? I was at Friday and Saturday's game and they didn't play it at either game that I heard! That's just bush!! I need to hear the late great Mr. Betts voice and hear it talk of the slopper. I'm very much down with the slopper camp. (I could also stand to hear Mr. Betts belt out PAAUULLL MOLLLLITOR or RRROBINNN YYYYOUNNNT, but I don't see that happening.)

Yup, it was played last night. I also saw it at the game on Sunday. It's quite comical. People seem to get a good laugh out of it. It never failed that both on Sunday and last night, friends of mine came into the row with two beers in their hands, only to have our group and then the people around us shout "Hey...it's a two fisted slopper baaaaaaaahaaaaaaa! Get security" We should really grow up, I know. Good times at the ballpark.

I was way up in 436 row 21 last night, and could definitely hear it pronounced as "slopper" from the speakers right behind us. They played the video either right before or very early in the game.

Kind of weird that you can hear the audio so much better in the "cheap" seats than down closer to the field.
