Booing

you know, I'll tell you what. I just watched the highlights from today's game and I didn't hear any booing from the crowd after Santana gave up his 3rd homer of the game (Kapler), nor on any of the homers. The place sounded like a mausoleum, to be sure, but they certainly were not booing.

Had this happened in Philly or in Milwaukee, the home town pitcher (who cares if he is the team's "savior" that they signed for mega-millions) would have been heartily booed.

So, hat's off to you, Met's fans. I am VERY impressed and happy with you.

If a player shows a consistent lack of hustle or effort, or is a jerk or something, sure - go ahead and boo. But booing just because a guy has a bad game, walks a guy, strikes out, or whatever, is just dumb.
I can also agree with this, which is why I got annoyed last year when Estrada never got booed but Turnbow heard it every time he reached ball 2.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

okay, so I was wrong. Again, I only was able to watch the highlights on mlb.tv so perhaps the Mets feed was toned down.

My favorite boo: After the toss to first. Yes. Boo loudly when the opposing pitcher holds on our fastest player in a 1 run game. Good job. I know they do it everywhere and I've just never understood it.

Same here. I always laugh(even at home). How dare they try and keep the runner close!

Booing is and always will be a part of every sporting event ever. To believe that anything would ever be different is a fantasy. Also if you stop and think about it, this entire thread is people booing. We are booing the people who are booing. Oops I just booed the people who are booing the people who are booing.

The loved/hated Brewers thread made me think of this: Why the heck was Wes Helms booed in Milwaukee last year? Sure he wasn't good but was he expected to be that great? I was almost embarassed to be in attendance that game. Unless a former player left because he was lazy (Estrada) or somehow bashes the city/organization or something, they probably shouldn't be booed.
