(3) Wisconsin vs. (10) Davidson. 6:10 CST

Yeah, I'd say I was a lot more crushed by last year's loss than this year. At least this year we went up against the most hyped/arguably the best player in the tournament, last year I'm sure not many people had heard of Wink Adams and Lon Kruger's kid before the game. Plus the nature of how it happened, with UW basically being out of it with 9 minutes left, and Wisconsin taking a 5 point lead last year with a few minutes left only to blow it, factored in as well. Like others said, now the Brewers have officially started for me.

I guess I didn't see this over the top coverage you're referencing.

Not saying they shouldn't have had a lot of coverage, but there was Davidson hype EVERYWHERE. There was even a dumb article on espn where Pate Forde wrote a gushing article about the Davidson administration paying for all their students to go to the Sweet 16 and ridiculed other schools for not doing the same. He conveniently didn't consider that Davidson has only 1700 students or that the yearly tuition is 40 grand.

An email I heard on the radio with the Sklar brothers the other day summed it up the best.

Dear Sklars,

Did you know Jerome Bettis is from Detroit?

Sincerely,

Stephen Curry is Dell Curry's son.

Anytime you have a small school advancing this far and on top of that, one of their players is dropping 40/30/33 points in the games, tons of hype will follow.

What else was the media going to carry on about? How good N.Carolina and Kansas are? We already know that. Plus, with so many cable shows out there that have time to fill, they need things to talk about. A small school beating the power conference teams while being led by a player who looks like he's 12 years old and is the son of a former NBA player, that's sound like a story i'd talk about if i'm running a cable show about sports and need things to talk about.

That was great, heard that when the Sklar brothers were filling in for Jim Rome. It is so true, talk about overhyping something to death.

Did Hickory have Jimmy Chitwood bring the ball up for the last shot in the game? Heck no, he got the ball coming off a screen to hit the shot that he was great at. I'm not so convinced Davidson themselves thought they were more than a one man team after watching that last attempt. Dude's man FELL DOWN! And Curry didn't pass to him.

Yeah -- these dudes are for real.

Yep

This close game vs another elite team should finally squash this nonsense belief some had that the Badgers just played a bad game which Davidson took advantage of and that UW would easily win say a seven games series against them. Kansas which many thought was the best team in the nation only beat Davidson by two points even though Curry missed quite a few open threes that he was making pretty much all season.

It might have been in another thread where someone mentioned the problem with intentionally running the clock down all the way (in order to have the final shot in a half or game) and then having to hurry a shot. I don't blame Davidson for not wanting to give the ball back to Kansas with a couple of seconds left, but . . .I'd much rather have a good shot with 4 seconds left than an off-balance 35-footer with 1 second remaining.

Easy for me to say, though, from the comfort of my couch.....
