He did kinda save himself after making the Dusty pick...

 

Sabermetricians will howl, but Baker is inheriting a team on the rise.
He's basically saying that he doesn't really think Baker deserves it, but since the Reds will inevitably win more games than last year, Baker will be at the helm of the most improved team, which somehow makes him manager of the year.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.
