1. Mariners

2. Angels

3. Rangers

4. A's

AL CENTRAL

1. Indians

2. Tigers

3. White Sox

4. Royals

5. Twins

This is the best division in my opinion. Each team will get 80 wins

AL EAST

1. Red Sox

2. Blue Jays

3. Yankees

4. Rays

5. Orioles

I don't think it's that impossible that the Blue Jays actually win this division this year. I think that the Jays finish in 2nd, but I could see the Sox and Yanks flipping as both have questions about their rotation. So much will depend on the young arms in both situation. How much do you think the Sox wish they'd have given up what the Twins asked for now? Throw Santana into that rotation, and I believe they're by far the best team in the game.

AL WILD CARD: Tigers

AL CY YOUNG:CC Sabathia

AL MVP: Alex Rodriquez

NL WEST

1. Dimondbacks

2. Dodgers

3. Rockies

4. Padres

5. Giants

I know many don't believe the D-backs were as good as their record last year. I agree, however I think that Randy Johnson will be back this year as their number three behind Webb and Haren, and that's a helluva 1-2-3. They also have Davis and Owings at the back of that rotation which will be solid, a very good BP even without Valverde, and I really like that young lineup. Upton isn't ready to be a superstar just yet, but I think he'll be good, Drew's going to have a big year, Jackson, ext..I think their offense will rank in the middle to bottom half of the NL(8-10) but I really like them in a short series, and I think that they'll have enough to get to one.

NL CENTRAL

1. Brewers

2. Cubs

3. Reds

4. Cards

5. Pirates

6. Astros

I just hate the Cubs.

NL EAST

1. Mets

2. Braves

3. Phillies

4. Marlins

5. Nats

The Braves have a really underappreciated team in my opinion. I still think John Smotlz is the best big game pitcher of my generation, Hudson's very solid. They need to solidify the backend, but who doesn't. The thing is, that offense is really good. Escobar could be a stud at Short, I like Kelly Johnson and his OB, Chipper's a stud, McCann should bounce back, Tex is a big time player and should be better in his second year in the AL.

Frankly, I think that they win this division again, but with Pedro coming back, and Maine, Perez to back up this guy they picked up from Minnesota with their lineup, the Mets are the safer bet.

Okay:

Angels: in house pitching solves all their problems. Kelvim who?

Indians: Detroit pen is so bad that Cleveland sneaks in.

Yankees: Young pitchers take control of the division, Manny and Ortiz are actually a combined 97 years old

Tigers: Wild Card

Diamondbacks: pitching still beats hitting, Haren is the move of the year

Cubs: Brewer starters let the Cubbies sashay

Mets: Who else? Wright is not the best player in the league but he is the most important

Phillies: Wild Card

Yankees take down Detroit

Phillies surprise Diamondbacks

Last year in the house that Ruth built--what did you expect?

This year will represent a fundamental shift in baseball. One where the Yankees finally realize they can do it all--sign the best free agents, cultivate titanic talent in the minors. Can you say beginning of a new dynasty. Oh yeah, I heard best seats in the new Yankee home could go for 2500 bucks a seat. makes ya all warm inside.

AL West
1Angels(4)
2)Seattle
3) Oakland
4)Texas

Even with Escobar out for the year, and Lackey not being healthy, the Angels will win the division pretty easy. The Mariners are old, and performed way over their heads in 2007. Oakland is in rebuilding mode. The Rangers have a decent offense, but an absolutley terrible starting rotation.

AL Central
1)Indians(2)

2)Tigers
3)Royals

4)White Sox

5)Twins

I give a slight edge to the indians, over the tigers, because I expect Hafner to have a big year, and their pitching is still far better than the Tigers who have a bad banged up pen. The Royals are the only other team that has a shot to get to .500.

AL East

1)Yankees(1)

2)Red Sox(3WC)

3)Toronto

4)Tampa Bay

5Baltimore

The Yankees scored almost 6 runs a game last year. I expect their young pitchers to come through big this year, if that happens they will win over 100 games. The Red Sox will get the wild card. The Rays are still a year away from breaking the 500 mark, and at least two years away from competing in a very tough AL east.

NL West

1)Dodgers(4)

2)Arizona

3)Rockies

4)Padres

5)Giants

The addition of Andruw Jones should help them put some runs on the board. I dont expect much out of any of these teams but the dodgers are the best out of a very mediocre group. Arizona played way over their heads last year, but with the addition of Dan Harren, and the young group of players progressing, I expect them to compete with the dodgers, I say they get 84 wins, and the dodgers get 86. I dont trust the Rockies pitching beyond Jeff Francis, and their offensive numbers look much worse on the road. THe Giants are just a mess, and will compete with Baltimore, and Florida for the worst record in baseball.

NL Central

1)Brewers(2)

2)Cubs

3)Cincinatti

4)St. Louis

5)Pittsburgh

6)Houston

I think that some of the concerns of our younger guys regressing will come true mainly Ryan Braun, and certainly J.J. Hardy. With that said Weeks could stay healthy, and finally realize his potential over a whole season, Billy Hall should bounce back, since most of his problems were just luck, and our defense will be improved, so the pitching should therefore be improved. This is still a pretty close one, and I just cant pick against the Brewers.

NL East
1)Mets(1)
2)Phillies(3WC)

3)Braves

4Nationals

5)Marlins

The Mets will win this one pretty handily. The Phillies have a great offense, but their pitching does not come close to what the Mets have. With John Smoltz not 100%, and a complete lack of depth in the rotation, I dont see the Braves as too much of a threat. With all that is made of how weak the central is, I could see the second place having the best shot at knocking off the Phillies for the Wild Card, but I do think the Phillies get the Wild Card spot.

NLDS
Mets over dodgers
Phillies over Brewers

AL WEST

1. Angels

2. Mariners

3. Rangers

4. A's

The Angels should have enough depth, even with Escobar and Lackey missing from the rotation to take the AL West. The M's have decent pitching, but unless Wilkerson and Big Sexy step up and have great years, I just don't see enough offense for them.

The Rangers could ride Josh Hamilton to a better record than their team deserves, especially if Hank Blalock has a bounceback year like I expect. The A's are in fire sale mode, so who knows what the heck they will look like come September. It won't be as cut and dried as everyone thinks, I believe.

AL CENTRAL

1. Tigers

2. Indians

3. White Sox

4. Royals

5. Twins

This is the Tigers year, for me. With that Murderer's Row of an offense, who cares that their bullpen sucks? They'll have a few leads big enough to withstand that, and the pitching isn't exactly chopped liver. I'm predicting one 20 game winner and two 16 game winners for the Tigers. The Tribe, while good, should be in the hunt all year, but I think it's WC all the way for them.

The others will finish some distance away, but could feasibly all swap places within about a game or two of each other. KC could be the real shock here. Meche, Bannister and Greinke isn't a bad 1-2-3 by anyone's standards and I'm seeing big years for Teahen, Butler and team MVP Gordon.

AL EAST

1. Red Sox

2. Rays

3. Blue Jays

4. Yankees

5. Orioles

Yup, Yanks in 4th place - who'da thunk it? Not even the last season in Yankees stadium can save them. A-Rod will have, for him, a down year. This will also be the year that the downward momentum for Matsui, Rivera, Giambi, Damon and Abreu starts to really kick in. Sure, every year they find ways to win - not this year.

The young, hungry talented Rays will get close to but won't catch the Sox and the Jays will have a healthy Vernon Wells and an 18 game winner in McGowan, I think.

As for the O's, only an MVP caliber season from Nick The Stick will give them anything to cheer. Roberts will end up with the Cubs by midseason when the Chicago media is baying for success after the traditional slow start, and everyone in the competitive AL East will take them behind the woodshed.

AL WILD CARD: Indians

AL CY YOUNG: James Shields (Rays)

AL MVP: Miggy Cabrera (Tigers)

NL WEST

1. Diamondbacks

2. Rockies

3. Padres

4. Dodgers

5. Giants

Dodgers, Schmodgers. Every year they get the sexy votes, and every year they underachieve. They are like the Cubs of the West. They'll underuse good players at the expense of vets that don't deserve it and Andruw Jones won't bounce back like everyone expects. The DBacks are for real, they added to an already decent rotation with Haren, and they'll get better years out of Drew and Chris Snyder (who'll become one of the best MLB catchers in the process).

The Rockies problem is their pitching. I don't think Jimenez is as good as last season hinted and they need Hirsch back sooner rather than later. The Pads pitching is strong, but I'm not sold on their offense, and as for the Giants...now that Barry's gone, will anyone care that they win 60 games (thanks to Lincecum and Cain. Zito, not so much)?

NL CENTRAL

1. Brewers

2. Reds

3. Cubs

4. Astros

5. Pirates

6. Cards

So I'm a homer, sue me. I honestly believe the Crew has enough to win the division. It won't be pretty, the vent threads will explode at some points, but I just think we have the tools to get the job done. Weeks, Cameron, Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hall - that's a 1-6 that rivals the Tigers IMO. Fast, powerful and intimidating. If the starting pitching can stay even mostly healthy (any 5 from 6 at a given time), I'm sure we can do it.

The Reds will depend on Dusty. He surprised me by giving Cueto and Volquez roster spots over guys like Belisle, so maybe he does have a brain. Votto should be a beast, Hopper, Bruce, Keppinger will all breakout, so 2nd place it is. The Cubs start the year with both Dempster and Marquis in the rotation. 'Nuff said. They're just not the worldbeaters they like to think they are. A midseason trade for Roberts will deplete the farm even more, but it won't be enough.

The Astros can hit, but, aside from a regressing Oswalt, can't pitch worth a lick. The Pirates will do better than some think, indeed they'll relegate the sorry Cards to last place when Pujols gets shut down at the AS break to have his surgery.

NL EAST

1. Mets

2. Braves

3. Phillies

4. Marlins

5. Nats

Apparently all the Mets have to do is show up and the NL East is theirs. Not so fast, Cochise. I think the Braves will have a very nice (but not quite nice enough) year taking the Mets all the way. Tex will be his usual self (especially in a contract year), Francouer's ever improving plate discipline will translate to a .300, 30 homer year, and Matt Diaz and Jair Jurrjens will also exceed expectations I think.

The Phillies won't do as well as 2007. Lidge will be in and out, screwing up the bullpen, and any team that thinks Adam Eaton is a good pitcher won't do well.

The Nats will lose a lot of games 10-9 with their decent offense and terrible pitching, and the Marlins will be fun to watch for the 7 tourists who took a wrong turn on their way to Universal Studios. Neither will post winning seasons, but both will be better than the Cards and Giants.

AL East

Red Sox - They didn't really lose anything from a World Series-winning team, and Clay Buchholz will be a pretty big addition to their full-time rotation.

Yankees - Starting pitching will keep them behind the Red Sox, although this race will probably come down to the final week or so.

Rays - I love the top of their rotation (Kazmir-Shields-Garza) and they're set up to be good for a long time...I think 88 wins is a bit optimistic, but they should break .500 for the first time ever.

Jays - I have a feeling it'll be a down year for the Jays..Vernon Wells should return to form, but the rest of that offense is pretty punchless.

O's - They'll compete with the Rangers and Royals for the worst record in baseball. Adam Jones and Nick Markakis will be a great outfield duo, though. If Wieters can work his way up to a September call up, it'll be a successful season for them.

AL Central

Indians - Detroit's got a ton of offense, but I'm giving Cleveland the division based on slightly better pitching. Hafner and Sizemore should bounce back this year, too, which only makes the Tribe more dangerous

Tigers - I'm expecting big things out of Miggy Cabrera now that he's actually motivated to play, plus he gets to feast on some crappy AL Central pitching outside of Cleveland.

White Sox - Swisher's going to put up some big numbers in The Cell, and maybe Konerko and Dye can bounce back (although it doesn't seem likely).

Twins - I liked the Delmon Young pick up, and they do get Liriano back this year, although he probably won't be totally 100% this year. Their starting pitching will probably be ugly, but they still have a strong bullpen and some nice bats.

Royals - Their pitching is going to be horrific, but at least watching Alex Gordon and Billy Butler grow should be fun.

Angels - Starting pitching injuries are a problem, but they have some good young players hitting the major league level now and they still have a good bullpen. They'll score enough runs to win the division comfortably...same old Halos.

Mariners - I've said it in other threads, but I think they'll be horrible with the bats this year. Luckily, they might only need a few runs to win games that Hernandez and Bedard start. They just have to hope that Hernandez stays healthy all year...there's a lot of mileage on that arm already.

A's - I like the young guys they picked up this offseason, and everyone should be healthy for the first time in awhile. Even if Beane has a Trade Deadline firesale, I think they'll finish ahead of the Rangers...

Rangers - ...that's how bad they'll be. No starting pitching, no bullpen pitching. They'll probably score runs with the best of them, but they'll need to score 6 or 7 a night to have a chance to win. It'll be another long year.

WILDCARD: Detroit

MVP: Miguel Cabrera, DET

Cy Young: C.C. Sabathia, CLE (Contract year!)

ROY: Evan Longoria, TB or Clay Buchholz, BOS

PENNANT: Boston, again

NL East

Mets - But I don't think they'll run away with the division as easily as everyone thinks. They still have some bullpen issues to iron out, and they really don't have anyone to be their 5th starter...they're looking at Jorge Sosa starting again.

Phillies - If Hamels can stay healthy he'll be a legit Cy Young contender, Howard will mash a ton of home runs again, and they still will struggle in the bullpen. Blown saves will probably be the difference between them and the Mets this year (and they likely won't beat the Mets 9 straight times or whatever they did in September last year).

Braves - A full year of Teixeira and a healthy Chipper Jones gives them a pretty scary lineup. Glavine's probably not going to do too well in his return to Atlanta, but Rafael Soriano should be good in the closer's role.

Nats - Slowly building something up in DC, but they still have no starting pitching...maybe revenues from the new park will make them players in the FA market next offseason.

Marlins - Basically losing on purpose this year, but they still have some nice young talent, especially in the pitching staff. Hanley Ramirez will probably go unnoticed again this year, which is a shame.

NL Central

Cubs - By a game or two

Brewers - Wildcard.

Reds - Finished last year strong, but Dusty will probably mess with a good thing and keep them in a distant third.

Astros - If Tejada can bounce back to his old offensive form, their lineup might not actually stink too bad. Too bad their rotation is basically Oswalt and hope for 4 days of rain. I don't like giving up Qualls for Valverde, but I think I'm one of the few.

Cards - Long year for La Russa...I wouldn't be surprised if he calls it quits after the year. They could fall into last if Pujols' elbow causes him to miss time this year.

Pirates - Nice young rotation but not much going on with the bats...Bay should bounce back, but they'll probably end up trading Xavier Nady for nothing and I've been seeing LaRoche rumors already.

NL West

Diamondbacks - I think they'll run away with the division this year. I really like the Webb-Haren combo, and if they can get a good half season out of Randy Johnson before he breaks down they'll be tough to beat. They'll score more runs this year, which should mean no more crazy Pyth. Records throughout the year.

Dodgers - Assuming Joe Torre is sane and plays Ethier ahead of Juan Pierre. Even then, I think they'll finish second...they were going strong for most of last season before falling out of it late.

Rockies - Not quite a believer yet...let's see them do it without a crazy September run.

Padres - Barely behind the Rockies, IMO...these two could easily be flipped depending on how the Padres pitch beyond Peavy and Young.

Giants - When Bengie Molina is hitting cleanup, you have some issues.

WILDCARD: Brewers

MVP: David Wright, NYM (Prince somewhere in the top 3)

Cy Young: Cole Hamels, PHI

ROY: Geovany Soto, CHI (although he's like 26) or Justin Upton, ARI (although I don't know if he still qualifies as a rookie)

Most of you picked the Brewers to win the NL Central (That's not surprising - you should)

I poster (with some kind of a hair up his butt picked the Cubs for last) That's cool too

Of course I pick the Cubs to win and the Brewers for the WC as I think we will both beat up on the rest of the division the other 2 divisions are more balanced and knock each other off.

But at this point it's no longer relevent

Game On - May the best team win

American League West

1. Seattle Mariners

2. Los Angeles Angels

3. Oakland A's

4. Texas Rangers

John Lackey being out until mid-May and losing Kelvim Escobar is going to really hurt the Los Angeles Angels. The Seattle Mariners have the top two starting pitchers in the division in Erik Bedard and Felix Hernandez. Josh Hamilton will tear up the American League but won't get American League Most Valuable Player cause the Texas Rangers stink.

American League Central

1. Cleveland Indians

2. Detroit Tigers

3. Kansas City Royals

4. Minnesota Twins

5. Chicago White Sox

Cleveland Indians are the class of the American League because they mix the right amount of youth with veterans. I think the Detroit Tigers are good but I am just not sold on that bullpen. The Kansas City Royals will surprise some. This is a good division.

American League East

1. New York Yankees

2. Tampa Bay Rays

3. Boston Red Sox

4. Toronto Blue Jays

5. Baltimore Orioles

Age is going and poor pitching depth is going to haunt the Boston Red Sox. Clay Bucholtz is a year away from contributing. The New York Yankees will acquire that starting pitcher to put them over the hump. The Tampa Bay Rays are talent wise on the verge. I think Carl Crawford is going to put up a monster season.

American League Wild Card: Detroit Tigers

American League Cy Young: Starting Pitcher Erik Bedard from the Seattle Mariners

American League Rookie of the Year: Centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury from the Boston Red Sox

American League Most Valuable Player: Centerfielder Grady Sizemore from the Cleveland Indians

American League Coach of the Year: Joe Maddon of the Tampa Bay Rays

American League Division Series: New York Yankees over the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians over the Seattle Mariners

American League Championship Series: Cleveland Indians over the New York Yankees

American League Champions: Cleveland Indians

National League West

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

2. San Diego Padres

3. Arizona Diamandbacks

4. Colorado Rockies

5. San Fransisco Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers have great pitching, the power bat in Andruw Jones, and a manager that has a clue in Joe Torre. The San Diego Padres are still the Padres, they will be there. Offense will be the problem in Arizona and pitching will be the problem in Colorado.

National League Central

1. Milwaukee Brewers

2. Cincinnati Reds

3. Chicago Cubs

4. Pittsburgh Pirates

5. St. Louis Cardinals

6. Houston Astros

The Brewers are clearly the class of this division. No offense to the Chicago Cubs. But I really don't think they improved their offense the way the national pundits think. You can't count of Kerry Wood to be any important part of your team. The Cincinnati Reds are going to be good but how good? It will be interesting because if they can get their feet wet fast they could challange.

National League East

1. Atlanta Braves

2. Philadelphia Phillies

3. New York Mets

4. Washington Nationals

5. Florida Marlins

The Atlanta Braves win a three team shootout with the Philadelphia Phillies winning the wild card. I think pitching depth will hurt the New York Mets chances.

National League Wild Card: Philadelphia Phillies

National League Cy Young: Starting Pitcher Aaron Harang from the Cincinnati Reds

National League Rookie of the Year: Starting Pitcher Johnny Cueto from the Cincinnati Reds

National League Most Valuable Player: First Baseman Mark Teixeira from the Atlanta Braves

National League Coach of the Year: Joe Torre of the Los Angeles Dodgers

National League Division Series: Milwaukee Brewers over the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers over Philadelphia Phillies

National League Championship Series: Los Angeles Dodgers over the Milwaukee Brewers

National League Champions: Los Angeles Dodgers

World Series Champion: Los Angeles Dodgers

World Series Most Valuable Player: Clayton Kershaw

I wanna play!

American League West

1. Seattle Mariners

2. Los Angeles Angels

3. Oakland A's

4. Texas Rangers

SEA improved while the Angels and A's regressed for this year. And the Rangers, quite frankly, need a ton of help.

American League Central

1. Detroit Tigers

2. Cleveland Indians

3. Minnesota Twins

4. Kansas City Royals

5. Chicago White Sox

Tigers' offense pretty much covers up any bullpen deficiencies for the regular season because there are few (relatively) save opportunities due to blowouts. This will, however, catch up to them in the postseason...

American League East

1. Boston Red Sox (90-72)

2. Tampa Bay Rays (88-74)

3. Toronto Blue Jays (86-76)

4. New York Yankees (84-78)

5. Baltimore Orioles (68-94)

Yankees' ancient pitchers (Mussina and Pettitte) cannot stay healthy and the Yankees refuse to continue to mortgage the future to win now. Kennedy and Hughes get shut down after 160 IP. Chamberlain has to move into the closer role for good because Rivera's arm finally gives out. All the offense in the world won't do any good if the pitching can't hold up its end.

American League Wild Card: Tampa Bay Rays in a 1 game playoff over Cleveland

American League Cy Young: Starting Pitcher Erik Bedard from the Seattle Mariners

American League Rookie of the Year: 3B Evan Longoria of the Rays. Gets called up like Braun was last year and - without the fielding issues - proceeds to tear the cover off the ball from the hot corner.

American League Most Valuable Player: Papelbon. Saves like 70 games. Threatens to eat writers who won't vote for him.

American League Coach of the Year: Joe Maddon of the Tampa Bay Rays

American League Division Series: Rays over DET, Boston over SEA

American League Championship Series: Boston over Rays 4-2

American League Champions: Boston

National League West

1. Arizona Diamondbacks

2. Los Angeles Dodgers

3. San Diego Padres

4. Colorado Rockies

5. San Fransisco Giants

COL's starting pitching can't help their beer league offense. Arizona's rotation plows through as Randy Johnson is so close to 300 wins he can taste it, so he'll pitch through anything to get there.

National League Central

1. Milwaukee Brewers (92-70)

2. Cincinnati Reds (85-77)

3. Chicago Cubs (84-78)

4. Pittsburgh Pirates (80-82)

5. Houston Astros (76-86)

6. St. Louis Cardinals (70-92)

Kerry Wood - big shocker - can't make it through an entire season and Marmol's control issues resurface. Game over for the Cubs. Cordero, even with a 4.6 ERA, still manages to save 45 games. Gagne from the first half of 2007 shows up in Milwaukee and saves 40. Sheets actually pitches close to his potential and since the Brewers are up 12 games come the trade deadline, he's traded to BOS, who's willing to give up key prospects in their attempt to fight off hard-charging TB and NY in the AL East. And the Brewers STILL win the Central by 7 games. Sheets' exodus, however, does not come back to haunt the Brewers in the postseason.

National League East

1. NY Mets

2. Philadelphia Phillies

3. Atlanta Braves

4. Washington Nationals

5. Florida Marlins

Santana is everything and more that the Mets hoped he would be and Pedro Martinez becomes a solid #2. Oliver Perez has a phenomenal contract season.

National League Wild Card: Philadelphia Phillies

National League Cy Young: Santana

National League Rookie of the Year: Cameron Maybin

National League Most Valuable Player: Prince Fielder. Braun finishes 3rd behind Chase Utley.

National League Coach of the Year: Joe Torre of the Los Angeles Dodgers

National League Division Series: Milwaukee Brewers over the Phillies, Mets over Diamondbacks

National League Championship Series: NY Mets over the Milwaukee Brewers

National League Champions: NY Mets 4-3. Gagne gives up a 2 run shot in the bottom of the 10th to lose it.

World Series Champion: Boston Red Sox, 4-0

World Series Most Valuable Player: Papelbon as he saves all 4 games with 18 strikeouts in 6 innings. Used for two two-inning saves. Proceeds to breathe fire at any opposing hitter that dares foul off a pitch.
