Golfers Wanted

I've been a member of Whitnall Park men's club for many years. However, I have never participated in any of there events because I usually golf on weekend with friends who don't have an interest in joining a local men's club. The only reason I join it every year is so I can compete in the County Tourney in August.

I am looking for a league in Milwaukee, I am graduating college in May and I am a hardcore golfer. I was a member of a course in Madison for years and summers in college. What days and what is the price. The site is down now, my email is dmadelung@gmail.com If you could send me any information I would like to join.

Pretty much all the county golf courses including Whitnall, Oakwood, Grant, Greenfield, Dretzka, Currie, & Brown Deer (not the par 3's) have men's clubs that have club events and also compete against each other in different events. If you contact any of the courses they can give you information on who to contact. Fees are generally about $100 for a one year membership. Here are some links to some of the sites:

I've played dretzka, currie, and brown deer. Brown Deer was overpriced I thought, Currie was in terrible condition, but I enjoyed Dretzka. What are others opinons of other local courses?
If you are currently living in Milwaukee County, get a county card. It will pay for itself after a few rounds and it will definitly pay for itself at Brown Deer. Brown Deer is something like $35 with the County Card. That's definitly not overpriced (but, I agree, it's overpriced without the card). Oakwood is a nice course, long - not terribly challanging. The county courses have been hit by budget cuts and are not nearly in as good of conditions as they were 10 years ago. If it's a hot dry summer, some of the courses can be almost unplayable by the end of July, early August because they don't get enough water.

Sorry about the bad link this one should work http://golfdretzka.tripod.com/ I changed the original message as well. Dretzka Park Mens Club costs $65.00 for the year and includes the WSGA handicap service, and membership into the WSGA, WPLA, and MCPLA. We have 5 events scheduled throughout the year plus season long match play events. As another mentioned we do have matches against the other clubs, 1st and 2nd team matches. The 1st team is played without handicap (scratch) while the 2nd teammatch is played at your full handicap. Please check out the site and let me know if there are any questions.

P.S. You dont have to be a member of County Park Mens club to play in any of the tournaments that they sponsor. It is 5-10 dollars more, but you can play in them.
