Zambrano said he thought the Reds have a better offense. So what? While I'm sure the Brewers like to prove him wrong today, I'd be surprised if they thought the comments were a big deal.

I agree, I'd think they're focusing more on how he dominated them with essentially high fastballs last time he pitched against them, and I hope they're thinking about laying off the fastball in their eyes this time

Hey DHonks, check out the Daily Brew. Along with an in-depth preview, I have included the action around the NL Central for the week at the bottom of the story. I'm no Doug Melvin, but I think there's some pretty decent nuggets in that article. Enjoy!

First time Zambrano is up to bat....Bean the hell out of him. Nail him hard (not in the head..that would be evil), but nonetheless...bean him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I'd just hire a goon to bash his knee before the game even started. Talk about intimidation!

I'm someone that doesn't mind seeing guys get hit intentionally...but you don't hit the oppositions pitcher.

However...it is Zambrano, If I were on the mound, knowing he gets all flustered and riled up when things don't go his way, and usually implodes..I'd probably give him 3-4 pitches high and tight....

"Anybody else a little worried that the brewers might push a little too hard to beat up on Z?"

Not really. Maybe last year, when the lineup was awfully green, but I think they'll have good at bats throughout the order. Billy Hall hasn't shied away from this Zambrano stuff when asked about it, and has some good quotes in today's MJS regarding this topic.

Big game tonight, IMO. Not only is it the "Zambrano, eat your filthy words" Game, but to open a series in Wrigley against our rivals by beating their ace with our #5 starter would bode very well indeed. Couple that with a tough loss to the Cards on Sunday, and we could be in prime position to dust off the "Sweep Suits"...

Yes indeed! Fwiw, Vargas would most likely be the sCrUBbieS' third starter (at worst) right now.
