Ann Carroll actually looks decent up in Eau Claire out of the studio. Skin looks much more softer and smoother and not caked in makeup.
She's changed her hair style. I think she picks her styles from 1980s and 90s pictures of Joan Van Ark.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I know Damian Miller will get all the headlines, but I want to give a lot of credit to Carlos Villanueva for another spectacular outing. I really wish he could go the All-Star game too.

Late to the party here, but I'll echo the "what was Yost thinking" sentiment with throwing Villy four innings, when the final three were prime garbage time. Burned up arguably his best reliever for the final three games of the series. Work with us here, Ned, at least give rubber arm Shouse the 9th.

C'est la vie, at least he's got the rest of the 'pen nice and fresh. Here's to hoping they lock down the Pittsburgh bats when called upon.

If I caught what Ned said correctly, Carlos will be available Thursday. 45 pitches was the target number; Carlos tossed 48.

YAY! A Victory in Pittsburgh.

I'm really not worried about using Carlos V. for four innings. I totally agree with peavey and a few others that guessed maybe he is being stretched out for a move into the rotation. I could see that. At the same time, why mess with what's working?

As for Spuling, eh, what can you do? He's this year's Jaime Easterly.

"Let the kids play," Miller said. "At the rate I'm going now, I'm having success playing once or twice a week. Why change?"
Wow, in this day and age, is there really any way to not love Damien Miller?

Why, after a win, must we always dwell on the negative? This thread is always filled, with what ifs, and so on. He pitched 4 innings. If he pitches 3 or even 2, its the same thing. He will probably take the next two off. So what? Yo is the long guy in the next couple or we have a game where we have a starter go 6 or 7 and then we go to bow and coco. Why is Ned always to blame for something. We have plenty of relivers and you never know when these guys are going to pitch. So why not let him throw the rest of the game? I just get sick of always coming up with negatives when we win games.

EDIT: The Brewers score 7 runs in an inning where the pitcher makes 2 outs. Crazy.

That's nothing. A couple years ago the Brewers scored 8 runs against the Cubs in an inning and Jenkins made 2 outs. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Villanueva only pitches well when the pressure is off.

Just expanding on Island's earlier comment. I think the issue is that Ned doesn't have enough confidence to let Spurling pitch out of a jam. He could afford to let Chris actually give up about 4 runs, but if he walks a guy and gives up a couple of narrow base hits before say a double Yost isn't going to let him try and pitch out of it even though he's only given up a couple of runs. And in fairness to Spurling he really has not pitched badly, it's more of a reflection on Ned's usage patterns that he won't trust a pitcher in garbage time with a longer leash.

"I totally agree with peavey and a few others that guessed maybe he is being stretched out for a move into the rotation."

Keeping Villy "stretched out" is the only explanation that doesn't make my head spin, but even then, the timing seems really strange, with a four day layoff right around the corner.

As for the guy who asked why anyone would dare question one of Yost's decisions after a win - consider this a corrolary to Russ' pitching thread. When the Brewers lose, it does not automatically follow that Yost managed poorly, and when they win, it doesn't automatically follow that he managed flawlessly. I reserve the right to guess along with (and second guess) the manager all season long. Frankly, that's what makes baseball so enjoyable to me.

As others have said, whether Villy had 25 or 45 total pitches probably made little no difference to his availably. I like the idea of keeping him as stretched out as possible, since he can slide right into the rotation if needed, then.

Also, never a bad thing to keep the rest of the bullpen rested for an afternoon game the following day.

Yo's presence in the bullpen will give Yost tons of flexibility in how he manages the pen as well - great to have two innings eaters in the pen that are as talented as Yo and Villy
