We are going to have quite the problem next year deciding on a starting rotation. (if we dont make any signficant trades) In my mind...Villanueva absolutly has to be in the rotation.

Is there a reason Villy is still in the game? Why are we burning him out in a blowout when Spurling could be eating up these last two innings? Now Villy won't be available until Thursday at the earliest.

Yost has done this a few times lately...leaving villanueva in during a lopsided game. I really dont understand his logic behind this, now villanueva is certainly not available tomorrow and possibly not wednesday. After villa pitched the bottom of the 6th and we scored 7 in the top of the 7th, he should of been pulled from the game.

I was thinking the same thing. Though the guy got through 3 innings with 33 pitches, which is amazing in itself. Given the low pitch count...he might be OK by Wednesday. Hopefully, Ned will throw Spruls in the 9th

But with Cappy starting and just off the DL. Plus a Vargas start after that...one would think the bullpen is going to see plenty of use these next two days

They don't have a day off between now and the break and Villanueva is plenty capable of throwing three innings. Not to mention that Gallardo is now there to provide the possibility of working multiple innings if needed. This is the correct move.

The ball beat Hall, so the out call is going to be made 99% of the time...sadly, the 1% was yesterday, when the home plate ump blew the call twice (once because the ball beat the runner, and once when the tag got him).

I think you can really argue either way on keeping Villy in. If you put Spurling in to try and soak up garbage time you face a non trivial risk of him giving up enough runs and getting into enough trouble to have to come back and burn good relievers.

Is there a possibility Carlos V is being stretched out to replace bush in the rotation? Makes sense in my mind...especially now that there is a very similar pitcher to Villanueva in the bullpen in Gallardo. Any thoughts?

If this is true than there is quite literally no situation in which Spurling has any value (except maybe a game where the Brewers are down by more than 5 fairly early on).

As much as I love watching Villy pitch, there are reasons we have a range of different pitchers and if we can't go to Villy in a close game in the next couple days and have to use Spurling, I don't know how cool that is.

I'm only nitpicking at this point, great game folks!

EDIT: good point razzzzzor. i guess what i meant to say was "miller is awesome"
