I think a lot of us have some trepidation about this series. PNC has been a tough place to play for Milwaukee in the past. Chance for a bit of an emotional letdown after the "big" series w/ the Cubs. Not sure what to expect from Capuano in his first game back. Facing Snell and Gorzelanny back to back.

All of that said, I feel good about tonight's game. Suppan had a rough stretch in June, but pitched pretty well his last time out, and historically has pitched well vs. the Pirates. I expect a good outing out of Soup, and the offense to score enough runs to make this one a 'W'.

With the low era addition of Gallardo to the pen, that era is looking even better and better for them. If turnbow continues to throw a few more good innings, they are on the verge of everyone being below 3.5 in the pen. that would be amazing considering it doesnt feel like turnbow, spurling, or shouse should have 3 something era's.

also... did anyone see the pirate fans do their staged "walk-out" at the game I think it was 2 nights ago. They only got a couple thousand fans to do it, and I guess most of the fans actually returned to their seats anyways. I sympathize with pirate fans.... I'm sure many brewer fans can relate to their long woes.

Van Benschoten faced the Brewers back on August 31st of 2004 as a starter. He was facing Doug Davis who got pulled after 1 inning.

That box score is intriguing. The Brewers put up a 4-spot in the first and Doug is pulled after two batters in the 2nd? I don't remember DD being hurt in '04, but it certainly doesn't look like he was being rocked.

OK, back to topic. Go Brewers. Devalue the PNC curse.

Very important to get off to good start in this series. Snell and Gorzelanny loom in games 3 and 4. Both had strong cases for All Star selection and have been tough on Brewers.

Meanwhile, Cubs will miss both of these guys over the weekend.

I so want the Crew to put the bad taste of the Cubs series out of our mouths and make us smile again with lots of runs, good pitching and victories! I really want Soup to pitch well, but wouldn't mind Ned going quickly to Yo or Villy if Soup struggles.

Please don't suck.

Lamp, I can't tell you how many times I've either thought that exact phrase to myself or said it under my breath as a game gets underway. Mostly in the Miller Park era.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Suggestion to Woogie and group (if it's dumb that's OK - I won't be hurt) - instead of an Inman tracker, can we have an NL ROY tracker? Like Braun vs. Pence?

The Brewers have their own all star pitcher going Wed, so that certainly helps their chances.

Pittsburgh's not the greatest park in the world for righthanded hitters to blast home runs, so the Crew needs to continue stringing hits and quality ABs together.

Prince should have a fun time this week, though!

I'd be happy with a series split in Pitt, followed by a series win in Washington - anything better would be gravy. I think 3 of 4 from Pitt and a series sweep against the Nationals is also very doable. A 6-1 end to this road trip going into the break would all but guarantee them the best record in the National League heading to the break.

Not sure why I'm expecting this, but for some reason I see the Cubs going 3-4 over their next 7...guess I'm an optimist - that and I wouldn't be surprised if D Lee decides to take his 5 game suspension during this stretch, instead of waiting till his appeal and missing games against better opponents.

DD left the game in the second because he was hit by a line drive and thought his arm had been fractured. Luckily, he was fine and the Brewers long losing streak was snapped.
