As the season nears, the Giants have few answers

This could get interesting. We all know the Giants are a mess, with too many old players, and very few answers outside of Cain and Lincecum. Even so, I wouldn't expect a team to be basically drawing names from a hat this close to the start of the season.

 

I'm glad to be able to debate the future of Escobar and the worthiness of Vargas.

In any event, here's how bad it is....

One week before the March 31 season opener, the club remained undecided on nearly half the bullpen, the backup catcher, a starting left fielder - and, oh yeah, every single infield position.

When asked about any of the positions in flux, Manager Bruce Bochy issued a default response: "We're going to huddle up and talk about that."
