The Brewers just look mentally checked-out. I think after going 7-1 against them in previous meeting this season, they had forgotten the Pirates were a real team...with uniforms and everything.

They need to re-group fast with two very good Pirates starters looking at em in the next 2 games in Snell and Gorzelanny

Marte has some filthy stuff, especially against lefties. Although Fielder is scuffling a bit, he just looked about as smooth as I would up at the plate.

Hope you're watching, Doug. Next time these teams hook up, Marte needs to be in a Brewers uniform.

They do count rest days as days he is not on the mound but you said he threw 85 pitches 3 days ago. He did not.

Gotcha. Thats right. Thanks for the correction. So now, though, both Villy and Yo are out for Wednesday. So we need Vargas to at least get through a minimum of 6 tommorrow.

Tim Redding against Zambrano tonight. That looks bad on paper...

Good luck with that, he's gone 6 innnings in under half his starts and has never gone over 6, my guess is 5.1 IP and 3.2 IP of the bullpen.

Somebody might want to remind the Brewers that the All Star Break begins Monday. Otherwise, that tidy lead they've spent all year building could be gone before Prince takes his first swing in the HR derby. Don't look for the Cubs to lose tonight with Zambrano against the immortal Tim Redding.

That "effort" today was pathetic. Poor defense, shoddy pitching, no plate discipline. Frankly they looked flat last night but Miller and Villanueva bailed them out big time.

Bad, bad signs.

They didn't actually look very good in 2/3 of the Cubs series, either.

Yo is the second best starter on this team. It's too bad that he is being wasted in the bullpen.

Extemely disappointing to see Yo in the pen. He belongs in the rotation. He's pitching out of his element.

I sat back in my recliner as Mench homered and the next thing I know, it's a 6-2 final. From reading here, it didn't look good on the defensive side (I saw the first 2 errors, not the latter).

Gallardo pitched well and not so well, from what I gather in the IGT. Is it too much work after pitching the other day or is it a shorter warmup period in the bullpen than he is accustomed? I don't know. I do agree that they should just keep him in the rotation.

The Pirates broadcast had a shot of Prince beating up/punching the water coolers in the dugout. He looked MAAAAAAAD! I'm guessing a bit of frustration is setting in on him as he hasn't gone yard in about week, never mind seeing/hitting the ball well.

Well, I thought I read that the Brewers officially can't lose their lead before the All-Star break, but I still get what you're saying. Now would be a bad time to go on another losing streak.

I'm just hoping today was more a result of a day game after a night game and seeing a guy they've never seen before. I think today's loss is tougher to swallow than most because it really would've been nice to get this one with Gorzelanny and Snell coming up in the last two games, but at least the Brewers have Sheets going in one of those games.

Oh well...dust off and get your head in the game for tomorrow...today was only one game. Still, a Cubs loss would make me feel better.
