Don't you worry about the Cubs, Brett? Even a little?..

I don't really worry, no. I wouldn't be shocked if they passed the Brewers briefly in early August, or something, but I have pretty much zero doubt that the Brewers are the best team in the division and will win it by a handful of games when it all shakes out. I'm kind of just enjoying the ride. I like that I was the pessimist guy all winter and now I'm bandwagon guy. Like I think I argued with you that Vargas was awful (which he is), but many were like "Maddux will make him into a 3.75 ERA guy".

You gotta like this Snell kid. Good young pitcher. We'll see the same thing tomorrow with Gorzelanny. Pirates #1-2 starters for years to come.

Hopefully, Sheeter can get the Crew a split. I guess I'll take that given how cursed the Brewers are in that dreaded ballpark.

The Cubs are for real and we sit here and pee another one down our pants.

****BREAKING NEWS****

The Brewers are also for real. So that's pretty cool. It's fun to watch a battle of the for reals to see who is the most realest.

The 9th will probably go groundout, strikeout, strikeout. *sigh*

Or alternately, groundout, strikeout, walk, strikeout. *sigh*

Snell is a good pitcher though, and Vargas had one of those Vargas days.

I'm hoping for a big ninth, but so far, the Brewers started out like a great big bottle rocket but have fizzled more than a tiny firecracker.

Totally have ruined my 4th of July thus far.

Oh man...Weeks almost had that one. Stupid PNC Park from Hell.

Go get 'em tomorrow, Sheets. Not much the Brewers could do today with Snell pitching so well...it's a stretch to assume Vargas & Co. would be able to hold the Bucs under 3 runs.

In any group of promising prospects, there's always going to be a dud. Rickie Weeks is the dud in this group of gems. The guy is garbage. Slice it any way you want. Put me on record now if you must. The guy is very overrated.

well, we officially suck again!

notice the teal font, as I'm not quite sure if this should be sarcasm or not.

Not a knock on Snell, by any means, as he's a pretty solid pitcher. But, just like last Friday, a nice first inning and NOTHING afterward.

Cubs lose and we can't take advantage. At least they didn't gain on us, but still.

Maybe this belongs in the vent thread.

Go get 'em Sheets. You've been the stopper, ne Ace, all season for the most part.

The stars seems aligned over the Cubs a tad more than the Crew at the moment...I mean we go to Pittsburgh and have to deal with Snell and Gorzo...Chicago comes in next and misses both. That's just a huge fortunate break for the Cubs.

Over 162 games, though, that stuff usually evens out.

What are the odd Jason Bergmann beats Sean Marshall on Thursday? 20-80? Here's to hope. I guess if the Crew takes care of business at 11:35 AM...it won't really matter.

OK, you are now officially on record as saying Weeks is a dud and garbage. Thanks for your contributions as always.

Any other prospects you'd like to give up on? I'm sure some had given up on Hart in the first two months when he was going through his wrist injury, or Hardy in either of the last two seasons... or does Rickie not get a chance to get healthy like everyone else?

We just havent been getting the calls latley, Gross was easily safe, Braun was safe also. And the strike 3 call to Fielder was way outside. Just have to play through it. At least the Cubs lost. And also Sheets going tommorow is almost always a win.

"And also Sheets going tommorow is almost always a win."

The Pirates starter can pitch a little, too. I'd say tomorrow's about a coinflip, but today was disappointing after spotting Vargas to a three run lead early. The Pirates offense without Bay isn't very intimidating, this one was there for the taking.

The good news is that we won't have to complain about one of Vargas's starts again until after the All Star Break.

I said at the beginning of this 10 game road trip that I'd be fine with 5-5, because that keeps us at 14 over .500 at the break. After 6 games we're at 2-4...so the Crew needs to go 3-1 or better to close out

After the break, the Brewers have a 10 game homestand against the Rockies, Dbacks and Giants...pull off something like a 7-3 or better and we're looking at being close between 16-20 over near the end of July.

That's just good.

Two things I think that needs to improve in the 2nd half are road baseball and the consistency of starters not named Sheets. Besides Ben (and not counting Yo)...are there any other starters in the rotation you have absolute confidence in each time they take the mound? Not me.
