UW vs. KSU Game Thread 3:20PM CT

homer
Keep driving at Beasley - really like the guard penetration. Open looks at the three have been sweet. I'm also enjoying the current balance, but am looking for one guy to kick up a scoring run to put the badger lead closer to 13 or 14. Probably J-Bo.

Stop letting them get down low...force them into bad shots, and we could be okay, assuming they don't get hot.

I don't like the pace of this game at all...When the 3s don't fall, we'll have to work it inside and draw those fouls. FTs, as always, should be huge.

If I have to hear "Beasley" one more time, I'll scream. I'm trying to put some baby items together and am listening to the tv more than watching it. Every time I look down after a badger bucket, I hear "Beasley" this and "Beasley" that. Getting old

Awesome job by UW's guards! I didn't think Hughes had that kind of offense in him.

K-state can't shoot at all.

Typical win by Bucky. Play solid defense, win a free throw shooting contest in the second half. Sweet 16!

Hopefully this will put an end to the 'Wisconsin as the trendy pick to be upset' stuff. The "Experts" see a team that isn't flashy but plays great defense and fundamentally and just assume they're going to be beaten by the high-flying teams.

Truly dominating win- never really in doubt in the entire second half.

Stiemsma had the game of his life today, very well played game, one of their best performances of the year. Hughes hanst shot that well all year. We have a pretty good shot of Elite 8 no matter who wins. We have held our first two opponents to season low point totals, I really like our chances

Wisconsin played very well, but also got very lucky. What was Kansas St, 0 for 13 from 3PT-land? Even a bad 25% shooting day from out there gives them 9-12 more points during the course of the game and could have really changed things. A lot of skill and a good amount of luck too. Kansas St had good looks, just aberrationally cold.

K State may have been unlucky on 3s this game, but they only average about 32% from behind the arc on the season. On top of that, their best 3-point shooter is Beasley! He was clearly more effective inside today, and our defense shut down other scoring options, making it necessary for him to penetrate and rely on their guards for outside shooting.

Even an above-average day from their guards would not have made the difference today because the Badgers were shooting so well themselves, and because it'd also have meant fewer possessions from Beasley and Walker in the interior.

I love watching this team, great effort, great balance, and the ability to adjust to what they or their opponents are doing in any given game. If a team is cold from the outside, deny the inside, if they get hot later, play tight on the guards.

Michigan State had half its team foul out because the Badgers saw that they weren't adjusting to the officials, so they went right at them. K State missed a lot of open threes, because the Badgers defended the paint, and made them prove they could score from the outside...which they never did.

It's not luck, it's brains, and balance.

Outstanding.

Deal with it America.

For the record, I'm a huge Badger fan. (I'm seeing the word "luck" make it into a lot of the posts now and I don't know if that was directed at my reference to it above.) Still, while I'm a big fan of the team, Bo, and the way they play, I can't deny that Kansas State -- with average outside shooting -- should have had 9 to 15 more more points in the course of the game. Not saying it would definitely have changed the outcome, but Badgers were fortunate to catch them on such a cold night. (You could argue that the Wisconsin defense caused the 0-13 performance, but if you watched the game, you know Kansas State had plenty of open looks from outside while we waited for them to prove they could hit a three.)
