The Case for Parra

Jiafung0007

In my opinion, Parra and Carlos V are going to have very similar production this year. The only difference in my eyes is that Parra will be on a stricter pitch count than Carlos. I think that it would be smart to have Parra pitch all of his innings in the major leagues so we get his full value for the year. Villanueva should be able to pitch throughout the year, so if he spends some of his innings in Nashville it is no big deal. Plus, that way he can get used to starting more after taking a year off.

With that said, I wouldn't be upset if they went the other way, I just think it makes sense to maximize Parra's time this year.

Here are a couple of recent threads about Parra and Villy. Most of the arguement boils down to keeping the 5 best starters vs keeping the most pitchers for the future. Also wether or not Villy is much better/different than Bush/Capunao/Vargas.

I blame Wang.
