Fantasy Baseball Forum

With all of the fantasy sports threads that float around this time of the year, you guys should look into making a new category of forum for fantasy sports exclusively.

just a suggestion from your not-so-local tuba player.

The fantasy baseball talk pops up every season, and there's (obviously http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) quite a few that indulge - myself excluded. I think a forum for it is a really good idea, since what makes a great fantasy player many times has little to do with what makes a great real-world player... thus the debates about player value are different.

Yes, the OT board handles this well, but it'd make things a lot simpler for those that want to have recurring conversations about fantasy baseball. As I'm typing this, I'm thinking that maybe just sticky-ing an 'official' fantasy baseball thread in the OT might be just as good. I know there's the 'find a league' thread that's stickied, but a second one, maybe 'Fantasy Baseball discussion' would be pretty cool.

it's been over a year since i've asked for the creation of a separate fantasy sports forum. So I will respectfully request for one to be established once again. In the past, it has been said we can't add another forum because it's too expensive to create new forums. Our idea was poo pooed and set aside just like some congressional committee. I noticed two new softball forums were created, so it can't be that expensive to create a new forum. Can somebody explain why we need two softball forums? Surely they could have been combined into one, or just use emails for your leagues like the people who go bowling together do. how many brewerfan posters are actually served by those two forums? Less than 100? On the otherhand, how many brewerfan posters play a fantasy sport? More than 1000? Do we really need a softball forum to tell people the game was canceled on account of rain? Can't we just email the players, or better yet, just look outside?

And to combine all the fantasy thoughts and posts into one fantasy thread? Brewerfan allows 25,000 threads about brewers baseball players, but only one thread for fantasy sports? That's pretty offensive and demeaning to us fantasy sports players to only be allowed one thread on this forum. there should be separate fantasy threads allowed for mock drafts, trade proposals, injury status, stat categories, league formations, standings, weekly trash talk, and so much more. not to mention there should be separate threads for other fantasy sports other than just baseball. There should be separate threads for fantasy golf and fantasy hockey too not just for baseball, basketball and football!

brian, it almost seems like you are biased against us fantasy sports geeks and are using your influence to ensure we limit our fantasy sports conversations to other sports forums. it's time for brewerfan to take that leap into the new millenium (You're several years behind mainstream America) and create a fantasy sports forum. all the big and up to date modern sports web sites have fantasy sports forums. trust me, if you create a forum, people will come here and post on it.

Ok, forget about me and my desires. think of bucky Tuba. Think of Toolivebrew. Don't you want to see how great or poorly I'm doing in my 5 different baseball leagues, 4 basketball leagues and 2 football leagues? Think of marketing and revenue. Krause Sports publications might want to do some advertizing on your site. Perhaps you could get Greg Ambrosious to do a fantasy sports column for you, or include your site in his many fantasy sports publications. We're talking BIG Bucks here. We could use the chatroom and have mock drafts on brewerfan. the possibilities are endless.

Ok, the #1 reason for creating a fantasy sports forum! You won't see me requesting for one next year. That's got to be worth something priceless!

Reed, I think you were a little dramatic at some spots there, but in general I agree.

Exhibit F - LambeauLeap has a fantasy football forum that gets a fifth the traffic a fantasy baseball forum would get on Brewerfan.

I felt bad last year winning one of the brewerfan baseball leagues and not being able to go to a brewerfan and proclaim my championship. think about it. if you were to win a brewerfan fantasy championship, where would you post it on brewerfan? inside that one fantasy thread that's 20 pages long? no thanks. in the major league board? in the softball forums?

if i win a brewerfan fantasy league i want all of brewerfan to know, not just the people who were in my league. I want all the stats geeks and old timer posters and mods to know I won. I want to be a bit boastful and melodramatic!

and what better place to do so than a fantasy forum?

The Madison forum started as just some threads in the Mke forum. The powers that be here decided they wanted to separate them & create a Madison softball forum.

I really don't see why threads in the OT forum aren't adequate for fantasy sports. Iirc the fantasy baseball thread is like 6 pages long now. What's needed per year, three or four threads in OT?

It doesn't cost more money to have more forums. Brewerfan is currently on a flat rate left over from ezBoard. After September 9th, it'll be charged under the Yuku large board pricing system: by the page view on thread pages only, with Yuku Supporter views not counting against that total.

I tossed a fantasy tag onto the current thread. If people think it would help, we could provide a fantasy posticon in Off Topic to make these threads stand out.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
