Wireless Network Question

MoneyballMan
I recently attempted to turn on WEP and WPA security on my home wireless network (two desktops and three laptops). Since I could not get the two desktops to connect using either scheme, I turned security off for the moment. However, I now have one laptop that will not connect to the network. It will recognize that it's present, try to connect for a few minutes and then just fail. And at that point, it stops even recognizing that the network is available. Is there anything in a registry that I can clear out or a "process" that needs to be stopped or anything else someone can think of to get this laptop working again? All of the other 4 PC's connected just fine when I turned security off and I have checked every setting (there aren't that many) on the one laptop that isn't connecting. And it connects just fine to wireless networks in airports (tried three this week) and hotel (tried one). Anyone have any suggestions - I'd be very appreciative!

First, you can either use WEP or WPA, you can't use both. They are separate encryption protocols. I would go with WPA. They are both crackable, but WPA is harder to crack.

About the laptop - I'm assuming that you've tried rebooting the laptop of course, right?

Yes, I've rebooted (and taken it on the road several times since it stopped working). And yes, I tried WEP and WPA separately (to try to get the desktops working). When I couldn't get all PC's working, I turned security "off" and that's when this one laptop just stopped connecting to the wireless network (it does connect wired).
