What a waste of a great effort from Cappy. They banged the bottom of the order on FSN, but the top (Hart/Hardy) faired no better. JJ seems to be in a slump. And his fielding pct has quietly fallen below last year's levels

blech! That's all I have to say about this one from the offense.

Well, no tv here in AZ so I'll be grilling up some brats, sitting on the patio with the misters going, having some brews, reading Baseball Weekly, and listening to the game.

Go Brewers!

I blame Mench. His extending the inning! BOO MENCH!

Well Cappy looked pretty darn good. It's good to see him back on track. Belfore needs to finish off guys, but I'd rack this outing up to nerves. Did he just pitch himself into the minors?

Quote upthread re: Cappy ... "the only thing I don't like, just by looking at the numbers, as I didn't actually watch him pitch, is that he only threw 58% strikes..."

What would you say a good ratio is? I'd kind of like to see 2/3rds strikes, but it's not often a guy does that in my experience.

Well, at least Cappy threw a good game. 99 pitches and two runs in seven innings is a fine outing. I thought the first run should have been unearned too...I'm shocked they didn't give Mench an error on that.

I thought a lot of our batters let a TON of hittable pitches go by tonight. And not just strikes, but right-in-the-wheelhouse strikes. It almost looked like our strategy was to sit there and hope that Sharpie walked us. That's what it looked like from section 234 anyway. Maybe I'm way off...did anyone else notice this?

Good work tonight by Cappy, some nice two out K's.

Bummer the offense didn't show up with the hits even with the five BB by DD. Oh well. Can't win them all, hopefully it gets Cappy back on track.

I think it did seem like the Brewers weren't swinging away like they normally would.

It's good to see though that Cappy might be back to form, and that the rest of the bullpen could finally have a day of rest. Shame it had to be at a game I was at though.

Chiming in a day late:

The solid outing by Cappy made the loss a lot easier to take.

From section 312, I frankly heard more boos than cheers for Sharpie. I gave a modest cheer during the starting lineups, and by the end of Doug's stint was heckling him like I might any opposing pitcher. The healing continues. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I enjoyed DD's time here. I bought the wife a DD T-shirt.

JET15, I'd like to know when you ever found one of those. I looked for a couple of seasons and never saw one at the Fan Zone. And if your wife ever tires of that shirt, you send me a PM before giving it to Goodwill or whatever. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

On the topic of jersey T-shirts...I'd like to see sales figures on the jersey tees this season. They have to be massive. I followed through on my chat room vow earlier this week and got myself a Villa T, amid a large crowd and slow moving checkout line. The advantage to the slow line was that I was somewhat sheltered by the Brewers' stellar fielding in the 4th inning.

I'll hand it to the Brewers, though; their selection of player tees is larger than it was at the start of the season, including a wider selection of kids' player tees.

I got a Villy T in too! But I was chugging in line starting about 5:50ish, and didn't get out till at least 6:45. Was a very slow line and check out.

That's one thing I'd like to see the Brewers improve. Fanzone speed. Concessions (Grrr Sportservice) has been doing a much better job later in the season, but for the first 2 months it was a bismal.

I'm stunned that you didn't get a Mench tee. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

But hey, we'll be able to spot each other at the ballpark now. At least on the days when I opt for the Villa T.

I'm pretty noticeable. The only guy in the entire world with a Gross jersey T. I won't be easy to find now that i'll blend in with the Villly fans.

I thought about getting a Mench T. But then I'd have to draw a big X over his name and number. Sure he'd then end up batting .750 for the second half and become MVP of the League.

And what would be wrong with this, if he did it as a Brewer? Take one for the franchise, man! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
