Ahhh, Doug. I'll be wearing your jersey, but root root rooting for the home team.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Let's see, some psychology perhaps?

Hey Cappy....those dogs in AZ gave up on you because they didn't think you were good enough.

The pitching staff has carried the bats since the break, except for the guy who got that first start vs Colorado....I'll bet that guy really wants to win one!

C'mon, it's Doug Davis...how hard can it be?

This will be the 2nd time this year the Brewers have had a pitching matchup that featured both starters facing former teams. Last time it was Suppan v. DelaRosa on June 22. Previous to that, it was 8/7/02, D'Amico v. Rusch.

I'm going down with a group of friends for this one. We'll be one of the first cars in the Bluemound lot, we'll be there good and early.
"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

Doug is Sharpie because it looks like his soul patch was drawn on with a Sharpie (I think...)

Although DD was a little frustrating at times last year, I still respect him a great deal. I hope his role in the Brewers resurgance is well recognized tomorrow. Give him a standing O, folks.

It really does feel weird seeing two guys that were #2 and #3 in our rotation last year go against each other. I know this happens all the time, but it still gets me every time. Typing "DD" just now brought back memories, and will make tomorrow's game that much more surreal.

I wonder how many BBs DD is gonna give up in the today's game? At the rate Davis is walking hitters, he could exceed last year's 102 BBs.

Come on Cappy, don't be like walking machine Davis, attack them hitters.

Well, when he first came to Milwaukee he was sporting more than just the soul patch. The mustache and other facial hair components made me think Sharpie.

The picture I added to post 2 of this thread is the best example I could find (without looking all night) of the original "Sharpie" look. Actually, the best example was here on bf.net.

Despite my DD nostalgia, the thought of Braun vs. Sharpie gladdens my heart and snaps me right back to the present.

Edit: Here's the bf.net pic:

I still can't believe they are actually going to give away Carmex, and that the radio and tv announcers had to pimp the promotion like it was a great deal. I couldn't do that with a straight face.

Anyways, here's to a 5-3 Brewers win tonight, no more one run wins!

Doug Davis on his ovation tonight (From the Yahoo! game preview):

"I don't know how the fans are going to be come Wednesday, we'll find out, but I think I did pretty good when I was here," he told Arizona's Web site. "I didn't leave as a free agent or anything. I didn't do a Carlos Lee or anything, let's put it that way."

I wish Sharpie no SPECIFIC harm.

I'll probably get incarcerated for saying this, but doesn't this Crew team seem tailor made for DD? I mean as long as Doug is around the strike zone he will induce the Crew to swing away (although not nearly as bad as teams of the past). The prospect worries me a bit. That being said nothing but good things to say about Doug. Met him once at Kennedy's and he seemed like a real down to earth Joe.

Along those lines maybe throw in a few base on balls tonight Doug?

I'll be there, section 107 row 20. Sorry Doug, but Brauns going to reinforce the reason why we traded you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

.545 .604 1.295, maybe I should get a Braun Walk Off Shirt!

I haven't looked at the other games box scores but if you add up the walks and total bases from last night the Brewers should have won the game by a lot more than 1 run. More on the order of a 7-3 final score or so. I'm curious if the Brewers actually strand as many runners as we think they do. given that they are a high SLg relatively low OBP team they should strand fewer on a percentage basis you'd think.
