I see zero chance Bush is in the rotation once Gallardo is back.

Bush/Gallardo/Suppan/Villanueva/Capuano.

Where is Sheets? And I think Vargas and Parra both have a better shot than Cappy being in the rotation to start the season. Cappy needs to use his option to go down to AAA or extended spring training and work on some things

Typo. I like Parra but given he has options he will be in AAA. Vargas is garbage.

I get as frustrated as anyone with Vargas when he nibbles and falls behind people causing his pitch count to be high leading to early exits, but I think he will surprise some people this year. I think you will see better control. I surely don't think a guy that is 29, has above average stuff, and is 43-38 in his career is garbage

Record is the most overrated pitching stat there is. Vargas is the 8th best starter of our 8 options. Parra on talent alone would be in the rotation if he didn't have options and they were ready to give him 200 innings.

I'm going to be very upset if Vargas is in the rotation over either Cappy or Villanueva, and even Bush.

Bottom line, what's more important than W's and L's?

For a team, nothing. For a pitcher, plenty. But that has been plenty covered in the Major League forum and no need to hijack the thread.

Ws and Ls are a measure of team performance, not pitching performance. Look at Ben Sheets' career record versus his other numbers. I think his career W/L is a losing record.

You may run like Mays...

Those are team stats, not pitcher stats.

As for linking to gameday, they are very slow to update.

Bush looked good in back to back innings, back in the rotation!

Fukudome k - looked almost like he was walking to first, then realized the pitch was a strike and had to swing at it. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes before teams know where his "happy zone" is - there are times when he looks really bad at pitches tailing away from him. He steps in the bucket at the plate on pitches that appear to be coming inside.

Almost anything, as long as you're talking about what accurately indicates performance.

The guy won twice as many games as he lost last year - I will take that out of a #5 starter any day. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was typically pretty, but I think he will be a late bloomer and have a solid year. His stuff is fine and it sounds like he is commanding his pitches much better so far.

Doesn't a team have to win for a pitcher to get a W? Its not like there is no correlation. And yes, I realize Vargas got great run support last year
