perfect margarita?

aracko

Well I have developed a healthy addiction to margaritas but I just cannot figure out how to make them properly. Does anyone have a recepie for a perfect margarita not found on the internet? What I mean is someone with experience making them?

I am talking lime margaritas on the rocks

This is my personal favorite: Sauza Hornitos Anejo, Grand Marnier and lime juice. I prefer Viva Riva gimlet mix over Roses lime juice as it is less sugary. Using Grand Marnier or GranGala as an alternate to Triple Sec is a must.

I prefer aged tequilas over the blancos. Patron is a great marketing machine, but I fine their tequila somewhat tasteless. God bless the person who got it to sell at that price.

i hope this doesn't over-shoot your request (i suppose it depends on your true passion for the margarita). i used to work at a place that served 150+ tequilas.

2 parts tequila

1 part fresh lime juice

1 part simple syrup

splash triple sec

i usually use a squirt of fresh lemon juice, too. shake and serve on the rocks.

this recipe is especially good if you're making at least a few or better yet a whole bunch (back yard bbq). when you measure your lime juice, i recommend using a few lemons, too, to balance the citrus. when making a big batch, use simple syrup to taste as some prefer a sweeter margarita (i don't). the most important rule is don't skimp on tequila. cuervo gold is a sin.

No this is what I want. I have not had much luck so far - in fact the other night I went out and had a horrible margarita and decided I would just settle for the dang Jose Cuervo mix with the 1800 Aguava or whatever that word is. Funny - its 0651 and I could really go for one now.

What is simple syrup and where is it found?

It's just sugar and water. Bring water to a boil then put the sugar in until it is dissolved. Once it's dissolved just remove it from the heat and let it cool. How much of water and sugar you use is up to you but it usually goes one part water to two parts sugar.

What is the perfect margarita? One that is served to you while sitting on the beach in Cancun during spring break. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

My wife actually likes the Jose Cuervo mix when I make her the blended strawberry variety. I add some fresh strawberrys and use a margarita salt on the rim of the glass. She thinks I should be a bartender for a living after a couple of these...

I like to add a pinch of salt to mine, or salt the glass... if you're so inclined.

I do prefer using Cointreau instead of normal triple sec as well.
