Best Brewer message board

Fanof17andBrew
New to this sight. I like it alot. Just wondering if this is a fav. of the available message boards for the Brewers in 08. I also have used the mlb forum and that was pretty cool too. Just lookin for the most local board discussing the Brewers this season.

I think Brewerfan is certainly the favorite among those who post here regularly. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

People who don't like it tend to have trouble following the board rules.

I seem to like it. And have converted a handful of others, too. It's much better knowing that I can have an intelligent discussion with someone or a quality read without worrying about flame wars and that garbage. I love the no-cuss policy and the rules are fair and straight-forward.

I will never EVER go to the MLB boards or, probably, any other. I get all my Brewer information (probably too much, not that I'm complaining) right here and all my news, too, for the most part. It's almost like being in a fraternity, if you will.

This site is by far the most professional and thoughtful Brewers site I've ever come across. The staff put a ton of time into making sure quality control standards are maintained so we can keep a great civil community. There are definitely topics where I prefer a much more unmoderated approach, but those are generally times when I know I'll be discussing things with smart people and everything will be cool. If I'm discussing things with people I know personally, I want no limits.

This is baseball though, and there's no need to be a complete idiot about it, that's why this is the only baseball forum I visit. Unmoderated baseball forums are a complete mess, and any forum that's even nearly this size that isn't controlled just turns into a gigantic mess. I love that I can come here and discuss baseball with a huge community and know that the discussion won't drop to the level of nonsense. I think that's why so many people here come to prefer this site above all other baseball message boards.

There's really no "best" board, it's a matter of personal preference. I'd say that we probably run the tightest ship of the bunch, but that's obviously not for some people. It's best to probably just observe each one for a while and make your own decision based off what you're looking for in a message board.

Oh, man, if you guys are almost like fraternity brothers, I shudder to think what that makes me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

somehow, I just knew that Hawing would pipe in with a comment about our "fraternity". Honest, I really did think of my wife, you, and the other ladies as our sorority sisters.

Agreed, Its ok to brag (just this time http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif) Brian. Greatest Brewer site ever... No one is a close 2nd. If we were a Division it would be the NL East in the 90's and this site would be the Braves.

But beware... You will start out thinking "hey this site is pretty cool" And you will check it once or twice a week. Next think you know its almost everyday and then IT IS everyday., It turns out to be your homepage and then you start checking it every hour and the....eh... Anyways.., dont worry about that im sure it has not happend to anyone... Right?

brian is being modest. this is THE site for the brewers. i can't imagine a better source for all things brewers, or baseball in general for that matter.

That's the best way to sum it up, imo. This site has taught me everything I know about baseball, aside from when I played as a youngster.

Brian's the best dealer - instead of "Hey, c'mon - the first time's on me" ... it's always free!

I think Brian is being modest as well. For intelligence of opinion you can't do better. Thoughtful, insightful, I still think there are at least 10 Cashmans on this site who regularly contribute.

Its weaknesses? I think that there's an unwritten law that observation isn't as valid as statistical study, and that there is a core of people here who can't have their opinions challenged. But these are minor quibbles when you consider the alternatives.

In short this is the rockin'est site going.

Obviously, this is my favorite site because it caters to the type of conversation I'd want to have surrounding the organization (and baseball in general). My point is just that there are other types of conversation that people like as well. Some people think that ANY moderation is unnecessary. Some people like to use message boards to act differently than they would in real life, and that suits them. It's a horse a piece. We have our own problems here with sometimes being to clique-y, and I do give more lenience to members that have been around at least a year or so, because I think they've earned it.

Honestly, I'm all for having even more Brewers communities. The more Brewers fans that feel more comfortable to have a place to call their home, the more Brewers discussion there will be. And that's always a good thing.

Well, other than the message board on brewers.com (which, let's face it, doesn't have nearly as much meaningful activity as this one), I don't even know of any other real "Brewers only" discussion forums.

I really enjoy this forum. I do think "clique-iness" and "statistical over-analysis" have been problems, but to a lesser degree more recently, for whatever reason. Pretty hard to find fault with this site, unless you prefer your internet forum to be full of uncensored talk, huge jpeg pictures in posts, and flame wars, in which case you won't like this site.

I'm not trying to rain on bf.net's parade, but I think if one is looking for general Brewers info, Jeff Sackmann's site should at least be mentioned: www.brewcrewball.com . There seems to be only a fraction of the discusstion there that there is on this board though. I tend to like it for the articles & analysis - it helps supplement what I read here. In the end though, this is by far the best place for brewers info.

Jeff's site is excellent.

Of course, being a blog with comment ability, it's not really set up for discussion like a message board is. The other side of the coin is that message boards aren't set up to do what Jeff does, either.
