Is anyone else "struggling" with Braun? It's a lot easier for me to hit home runs with Fielder than it is Braun.

Yeah, this has been an issue for me. I'm in 2015 right now in my franchise, and Braun has had a pretty pathetic career so far. He's fine when I'm playing the games, but for some reason he struggles really bad in simulations. I've tried him at 3 and 4, hoping it might make a difference, but every year he's around .250 with 20 homers or less. Prince, on the other hand, dominates like crazy, and his attributes, other than power, are worse than Braun's.

I'm still getting annoyed with the Power/Contact thing. Every new prospect has insane power but no contact. The entire league right now if full of guys that project to be Richie Sexson. The weird thing is that they're all really fast, too. Power/Speed guys that can't make solid contact. Awesome.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

Congrats! I'm still waiting for one of those...

My main complaint so far with the game is on plays at first where the pitcher needs to cover. He's usually way too slow to get over. Pretty much any slow chopper to first by a guy with decent speed is a hit, and you can forget about the 3-6-1 double plays.

Overall though, good game. A good improvment over '07, imo.

Thanks! I've played many, many baseball video games ( http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif ). Long overdue if you ask me! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Also, I agree 100% about the P having to cover 1B. Lame-o McLamey.

Played "that guy" last night. The dude who starts Dice-K, then brings in Josh Beckett in the seventh. Annoying.

Last year it was easy to hit home runs with the contact swing. Ive found that the power swing actually works this year, as opposed to last year. Of course, if you dont get a meatball your not going to hit it well. The homer runs will come, just keep working on moving the left analog into the zone.

That's funny... I feel the exact opposite -- for '07, I could crush with the power swing, and felt for the most part that you might get cheated on a HR chance if you didn't use the power swing. For '08, so far (keep in mind I've only played ~ 12 games, and none online), I've had a lot more success just trusting the players' natural power with the normal/contact swing. When I've used the power swing, I've had a lot more of the pop-ups & 'just missed it' outs.

Interesting. I will hit home runs with the contact swing. They usually just BARELY go out. They get robbed alot. That annoys me as well. I will admit though. When I use the power swing, its on fastball counts where I get a fastball up in the zone. Ive hardly ever taken one out on an off speed pitch, using the power swing. But last year I never used the power swing. Probably less then 5 times ever, never had a problem hitting homers.

It's also getting a little annoying when there's a ground ball up the middle, I send my shortstop after it, and he runs right over it. I wouldn't mind it as much if they would make it so that he just can't make the play, but the gameplay just looks ridiculous when a guy seemingly hops over a grounder instead of fielding it.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

You just suck at fielding. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I haven't seen that yet, jazzytrav. I have to say that I like the way they've added players being able to gather their momentum on the move in the IF. Is that worded clearly enough that anyone understands what I mean? Might be unclear.

*sigh* I know I'll get better, but right now in RTTS I suck at hitting. I'm like four or five games into my first season and I have yet to get a hit or even a walk (granted, they're using me almost exclusively as a pinch hitter). I guess I just need to get better at reading the pitches or something. Guessing pitches doesn't seem to be as effective as last year's game, at least for me so far.

you can change the GTP setup, change it to Classic 4 that way you only have 4 sections to choose from, alot easier.

Again my biggest complaint with RTTS is that no matter how good you do, it all depends on your rating where you go the next year. I got called up in May, should have led the league in batting .363 but didnt have the ABs, won rookie of the year and made the All-Star team. So what happens the next year, i get a contract offer for the Bench in AAA.

I'll look at that...thanks. I'm playing in Veteran mode right now. Wonder if I should switch to rookie just to "get my swing back," for now.

Yeah, I've pretty much given up on RTTS for now. You can absolutely dominate in all facets of the game and you'll get sent down just because your attributes aren't good enough. I remember one time where I was hitting .375 in the majors and I got bumped down twice to AA. I homered in 8 of my next 12 at-bats and finally got called back up.

It really sucks because if you completely dominate, your place on the team won't reflect your performance. But if you adjust the sliders to make your placement better suited to your performance, you'll never meet any of the goals or get enough points to add attributes. They make it very difficult and unrealistic.

I understand that making the big leagues is difficult, but it's completely unrealistic to hit .400 with 30 homers for years in the minors and be the AAA backup. And since your player has A potential, there's no reason that adjusted the sliders would make it impossible to make the big leagues.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

The answer is obvious, jazzytrav -- just stop sucking so big-time, and you'll get your shot. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

For some unknown reason, I have never gotten all that into the RTTS. Sounds like that's a good thing given this year's incarnation. Anyway, I've had more time with this game, and can say that it's quite good. They ironed out several bugs from '07, and while there are still some lingering annoyances, it's a nice improvement. I'd expect '09 to be even better, and eegads I almost would hate to see how incredible it'd both look & play on the PS3 by that point.

I started up a franchise with the Rangers (I usually like to do some random under-talented team, and make little -- but plausible -- tweaks) & am about 15 games into 2008. I signed Morgan Ensberg & Barry Bonds ... er, Reggie Stocker (btw, hearing Rex Hudler call his "first big-leauge hit" & talk about how Mom & Dad were in attendance & must be proud.... yea, that was some funnies), and swung a deal for PIT's Ryan Doumit. So I've got Saltalalaalalalmcahcchia at 1B, with a platoon of Doumit/Laird behind the dish. Our offense is top-5, and everything else is, well, the Texas Rangers. So far, it's been a blast -- Milton Bradley in RF, Hamilton in CF, Young/Kinsler MIF. When I play the games, we score dem runs real good-like.

Well, I have been getting better at batting. However, I keep having those games where I just feel the computer is intentionally robbing me...you know, you have a couple long balls that are caught just short of the wall, and then you line right to the third basemen. I only made one of my five or so goals during the first part of my '08 season. Ugh. Will have to knuckle down some more, I guess.

I love those games. I get especially annoyed when it's the type of game where your pitcher just gets rocked regardless of where you're pitching. I guess it does tend to happen in real games, but I hate giving up back to back to back jacks to guys with little or no power when I'm making good pitches.

Also had a very "Brewers-esque" moment last night...I'm playing in AA for the Carolina Mudcats...my guy leads off the inning with a gutsy triple. The next two batters strike out, and then the third guy hits a weak grounder to end the inning. Hilarious.

Also, playing as a 2B...my team's catcher seems to have no arm. I think I've managed to get the tag on two or three stealing runners out of about two dozen attempts. Ah well.

So what position does everyone make their player? I have a feeling that if we all put ourselves in the Brewers farm system, the position we choose is the one we deem most replaceable on the actual Brewers http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I took the safe route and became a catcher. I'm regretting this move because it's apparently insanely difficult to make the catcher have any sort of speed.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

I'm catching, too. It gets annoying to fast forward to your next play (fast being a relative term) and realize it's going to be a pop up.

Since it doesn't seem to matter much, I try to swipe bases as much as possible. I've added a little speed, but I'm still only about 20 for 35. Worst case I get thrown out and don't have to wait around for the next hitter or hitters.

I think the most annoying part about being a catcher is having to throw baserunners out. You have absolutely no control over it. You just press the button and hope it gets there fast. I guess that's somewhat realistic, but I would think you would have some sort of control.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.
