Brewers fans need to invade Wrigley Field...

I have been attending Brewers/Cubs games at Wrigley Field since 1998 (always in the bleachers). The park is a dump, the home team makes me nauseous and the fans...well, nevermind that.

In the late 90's, I could count on two hands how many Brewers fans attended those games. The 2000-2002 seasons showed only slight improvement. The 2003-2005 seasons were better. Starting in 2006, I noticed a drastic rise in Brewers fan attendance at Wrigley.

My point is this:

The rivalry between the Brewers and Cubs is big-time. The 2008 season will only further that rivalry. We NEED to show a presence at Wrigley this season like we've never shown before. Forget about "take back Miller Park," the Cubs faithful will come to our park, there's no stopping that. We need to invade their park. I know, I know, this topic probably has come up before, but this year is different. Nothing would make a statement to the rivalry more than a rousing cheer for a Fielder bomb onto Sheffield Ave. or a diving stab by Weeks.

We, as fans, can make a difference. Join me and other Brewers fans this season as we attempt to invade Wrigley Field.

I just checked the Cubs website and many value priced tickets (especially bleachers!!) still remain for the April 2nd & 3rd games. A few friends and I will be going down to Chicago on the 2nd (Wed.) and staying overnight in downtown for the game on the 3rd (Thu.) as well. If you plan on showing your presence at Wrigley, join me!

Either respond to this thread or shoot me an e-mail happyyoungster@hotmail.com

4 of us will also be there on the second. sec 140 row 8, just can't do the bleachers at wrigley--way to many drunken annoying cubbies there for me. i believe there was a thread last week with another link to some pretty cheap tickets for these 2 games as well, so hopefully there will be a good showing of us there.

Honestly, it's really not. About 90% of Cub fans i've could care less about us. We need more than just one good season for a rivalry to form. Can there be one? Sure. There just really isn't one now.

OK... how do we get a rivalry going?

Me an my wife will be there for the Wednesday and Thursday games. I'm very excited wear my Brewer gear in Wrigleyville, its going to be the start of a great season.

I think there is already a pretty decent rivalry between the Cubs and Brewers, but I feel like the Brewers fans care way more about the rivalry than the Cubs fans.

I agree that we (Brewer fans) think that the rivalry is much bigger than it is in their (cub backers) eyes, but I think from a fan's standpoint it is important for us to show up at wiggley field. One of my favorite things to say to younger cub fans at Miller Park is that "someday your dad will love you enough to buy tickets to your home field". I feel obliged to attend at least 3 or 4 games a year in their dump, to justify myself.

I really hope you don't do this. If Brewers' fans are reduced to making cracks to kids, I really hope this rivalry doesn't develop any further.

I find it ironic the constant disgust at Cubs' fans in Miller Park and an ongoing call for Brewers' fans to go to Wrigley Field.

Hey, do what you want, but save the dramatics...it's a baseball game.

Whoa...stop the press! BREWER FAN ATTEMPTS TO RALLY TROOPS Sorry for being "dramatic" but that "game" you so loosely refer to happens to be very near and dear to me. And I'd like for you to show me where I said I was disgusted with Cubs fans at Miller Park. Whether they're knowledgeable or not, they sure know how to support their team.

The day we admit that we have a serious rivalry on our hands directly to the south is the day we start to fill Wrigley Field seats with our own butts.

I don't know about you, but when Cubs players joke about Wrigley North during their interviews, that does not sit well with me. You can choose to sit on the sidelines and criticize those who show passion for their team, that's your choice. But, if I have it my way, I'm getting in the game.

Dramatic? Maybe. Fanatic? Absolutely.

Consistently start finishing the season ahead of them in a position that matters(like being in 1st place when they are in second), beat them alot during head to head meetings. Show them that we actually matter.

I am going to Wrigley for the first time ever on Opening Day and will proudly wear my Brewers gear. One thing I don't do is go to Brewer/Cub games at Miller Park. I can't stand it, and I know I am part of the problem, when the Cubs fans cheer. I had a bad enough time during a Twins game and I couldn't even imagine how much my blood would boil if I heard that much cheering for an opposing team.

Win more ballgames -- probably 90 games in a season.

Yeah I agree. Cracking on kids seems like an awful thing to do.

Supporting your team on the road is a great thing -- I think sometimes "showing passion" becomes an excuse for jackassery.

I feel like I should clarify my "kids comment". I'm not actually talking about younger kids, more the 17-22 year olds that show up at MP get completely drunk and try to instigate any Brewer fan around them as soon as the Cubs have a good play. I work with mostly this age of employees and refer to all of them as kids, even though I'm only about ten years older than them. It's the spoiled rich kid with the cubs visor and wristbands and I'm better than you attitude I'm talking about, not actually children.

that also goes the other way, let's not think that we have the best fans in the world, i have seen plenty of brewers fans pick fights, i know you have too.

This thread is turning into a joke. The whole point of the thread is to SUPPORT your Milwaukee Brewers. Instead we have people who feel the need to critique and criticize other Brewer fans for trying to rally the troops. The Brewers and Cubs are on the brink of becoming one of the top 5 rivalries in all of baseball.....lets have some fun with it.

What FTJ said. Very well done.

As for a "rivalry", it's a rivalry for Brewers' fans, but for the Cubs, the Cardinals are much bigger. The Crew is local, so Chicago fans can travel thee, but they do that with Cincy as well.

Many Cubs' fans come to Miller Park because it's closer, easier to get tickets, able to avoid traffic, and so on. I welcome them and their cash, now at the marquee level.

Well said.

FTJ, ever see the movie "Fever Pitch?" I rest my case. As far as being jackasses, I'll leave that to some of the Cubs fans, they have that down pat.

No kidding. No reason to act like that towards visiting fans in Miller Park either. Just say "thank you for coming and spending money so that we can improve our team." The best way to make visiting fans uncomfortable in Miller Park is to beat their teams whenever they come in. Who wants to make a long trip to see their team lose?

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

How about Brewer fans invade Miller Park more against the Cubs? Screw the Cubs and their fans. If they want to pay money that benefits the Crew I don't care. Cub fans seem to take a perverse pleasure about coming up here. It's weird. I would rather watch a Brewer game at MP as opposed to Wrigley. How about we all do that?

/wrigley field is an outdated and uncomfortable ballpark. it has history, yay! Hooray for history and flora!

I like Wrigley. I like Fenway. I like Williams Arena. I like the Big House.

Now, I hate the Cubs, Red Sox, Gophers, and Wolverines, but I have an appreciation for anything old in sports. To me there's nothing like walking into a ballpark or arena and knowing that some of the greatest ever have been out there.

I think any baseball fan should have it in their minds to experience Wrigley Field at least once. I've been there 3 times...it's uncomfortable and the fans have been jerks every time, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back...it just has "that" feel.

Basically, I understand the hatred for the team and the fans, but I'm a little disappointed that people here don't at least appreciate their park. Everyone should visit Wrigley if they get the chance...might as well go see the Brewers while you're there.

Blancofan1 you stole my seats I was watching those on stubhub for like 2 weeks waiting for friends to get back to me so now I'm stuck in the bleachers with the drunks. Oh well you snooze you lose.

Sorry Captain, I just went ahead and ordered the 4 expecting my friends to be on board with it and now 2 of them might not be able to go. So I might have 2 extra of them if you want. We'll split the stubhub price and at least know that there will be 4 brewer fans sitting together. PM me if you want the 2.
