Ever think of some popular bands, movies, or T.V. shows and wonder why they're so popular? Me too.

 

South Park- Not a terrible show by any means, but I don't really get the hilarity of it. A couple of my friends are obsessed, so whenever we play poker at their house they always have the DVDs on. I probably laugh once or twice during an episode, but I don't really think it should get near the credit it deserves. I'll admit I've only seen about 20 episodes, but there haven't really been any that I thought were too funny.

 

Boondock Saints- It's probably cause I'm in college, but I swear everyone my age LOVES this movie. I saw it for the first time a year ago, and aside from not living up to expectations, I thought it was plain bad. The plot was just so awful, and I firmly believe the only reason it's a "cult classic" is cause of males age 18-25.

 

Tenacious D- Nothing much to say except none of their songs are funny.

 

I'm sure there's more but this is all I can really think of.

Survivor. Basically all of reality TV. How can you possibly have reality TV when the people know the camera is on them? Mostly I just can't stand the reality shows that make it seem like "SOMEONE MIGHT DIE TONIGHT"...are you serious?

 

As for movies...A.I. was the most annoying movie I've ever seen. It should have been done in 1 1/2 hours. In fact, it had the perfect ending at that point in the movie. Then it kept going...and going...

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

There's an awful lot that I think is overrated - or more specifically, that tons of people like, but I just don't get it.

 

I was going to start with American Idol, but jazzytrav's general comment on reality TV helps take care of that, and then some.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

There's Something about Mary--not even a chuckle from me.

Forrest Gump--another awful movie. ooh, another adventure, i wonder how it will turn out.

the Simpsons--the show hasn't been funny since Conan left, and now it just relies on it's own well-worn cliches.

Pizza--it's ok-tasting, but nothing too special. makes me feel sick more often than not.

British literature in general--it's all pretty dull and boring, really. admit it.

the Ford Mustang--still looks cool and is fast, but it becomes overrated when every other person on the road owns one, too.

drunk chicks--sorry, they've never been cool, only annoying as sin.

poker on tv--i'm even a serious player, but just don't really care to see it on tv and don't really understand the craze.

the Beach Boys--i just don't get it. the singing is kinda nasal and i don't see how "good vibrations" makes the dude some genius lyricist.

the beach--i don't understand the popularity of sitting around in the blazing heat and doing nothing all day. it's just boring.

volleyball--what's the fun in bruising up your forearms for an hour?

U2 - i can honestly say that there isnt a song by them that i like

 

Phish - I dont get it at all, maybe because i dont smoke pot

 

Frisbee Golf - See above

 

Boob Jobs or Juco Transfers - to me there are like Fine China, to be looked at but not touched

 

Drinking/getting drunk - never have, never apealed to me. You end up being a jag and waste tons of money.

 

Erin Andrews - Ok looking. Her hotness can be equated to being the tallest midget. See two above also.

 

Vegetables - other then corn they all taste horrible.

 

I have a ton more but hitting a wall here.

family guy for me. i enjoyed the first season, mainly because i found it appalling that it aired at 6:00ish on sunday. many of the topics and jokes in the first season had no business being on network TV at that time.

 

now it seems that the show is a whole bunch of "like the time that (blank)", followed to a flashback. it got old really quick to me.

CORN ETHANOL

 

Not as efficient as gas, to make 1.5 gallons of it you need 1 gallon of good ole fossil fuel, we make enough stuff out of corn, and i don't want corn prices to go up (thats a LOT of what we use in day to day life) so we can use a less efficient fuel

No way! I seriously love that movie, the last scene is easily one of the saddest ones I'ver ever seen.

 

I'll admit that Jessica Alba is overrated, although she's still pretty darn good looking.

Dave Matthews Band is pretty bad too, although being in college like 85% of kids like them.

what???? he spoke for an entire movement of people with "The Times Are A'Changin". and really, he only has a small handful of songs he sings in that annoying voice. his lyrics are amazing, and i can't think of another singer who's songs have been covered more often.

about Forrest Gump, though, I liked the movie better when it was Being There.

 

overrated: the US Postal Service.
